사사교육에서 과학영재를 위한 연구윤리교육의 수행 방향: 멘토 과학자와의 심층 인터뷰를 중심으로

국문 초록

과학영재를 위한 사사교육 과정에서 연구윤리교육이 체계적으로 이루어지도록 하기 위해서는 우선 멘토마다 자체적이고 개별적으로 수행되던 교육을 공론화함으로써 방향성을 설정할 필요가 있다. 이에 이 연구에서는 과학영재 사사교육 프로그램에 참여하고 있는 과학자 12인을 대상으로 과학영재에게 필요한 연구윤리교육의 내용, 방법, 수준에 대한 이들의 인식을 반 구조화된 심층 인터뷰를 통해 알아보았다. 이들은 연구윤리 교육내용으로 과학연구의 본성, 연구의 객관성, 생명윤리를 가르쳐야 한다고 응답하였고 특히 가장 중요한 점은 진정한 과학의 연구 방법을 몸에 익히도록 하는 것이라는 점을 강조하였다. 연구윤리 교육 방법으로서 사사교육을 통한 연구수행 중 단계별 지도와 연구 수행 전 전체 교육이 필요하다고 응답하였다. 교육수준은 초심자 수준부터 과학자와 동일한 상급 수준에 이르 기까지 다양한 의견이 나왔는데, 사사교육의 진행과 학생들의 발전 단계에 맞추어 수준을 조정할 필요가 있다. 과학자들은 연구윤리교육의 어려움으로서 비윤리적 관행, 연구윤리가 학생 스스로의 문제라는 인식의 부족, 학생의 성과도출에 대한 욕망, 학생의 도덕적 소양과 같은 학생요인 뿐 아니라, 연구부정행위 모방 등 교육 부작용의 우려를 들었다. 이 연구를 기반으로 과학자들이 사사교육 중 연구윤리교육을 잘 할 수 있도록 교육내용과 방법, 수준을 매뉴얼화하고 그 방법을 구체적으로 안내할 필요가 있다. 또 연구윤리교육의 어려 움에 대한 교육적, 사회적 해결방안을 고려하여야 한다. 그 후 과학자들이 사사교육에서 연구윤리교육을 잘 수행하는지 점검 체계를 마련하여야 한다.

영문 초록

In order to make research ethics education in the mentoring program for the science gifted, it is necessary to discuss about changing direction from independent and individual way to a standard format of mentoring. The purpose of this study is to investigate the contents, methods, levels, and difficulties of the research ethics education through in-depth interviews with 12 scientist participating in the mentoring program for science gifted students. They emphasized that they should teach the nature of scientific research, the objectivity of research, and bioethics as contents of research ethics education. As a method of research ethics education, step by step guidance during the research and overall lecture before the research was required. The level of education varies from beginner level to scientist level, and it is necessary to adjust the level according to the progress of the research. Scientists point out the difficulties of research ethics education such as the students unethical practices, the lack of awareness that research ethics is a problem of students themselves, their desire for high achievements, their moral values, and their potential to imitate research misconduct presented in the lectures. Based on this research, it is necessary for scientists to manualize the contents, method and level of education so that research ethics education can be well done during the mentoring education. In addition, educational and social solutions to the difficulties of research ethics education should be considered. After that, scientists should establish a system of checking whether they conduct research ethics education appropriately in the mentoring program.
