지적장애 당사자의 학교생활 경험에 관한 인권 차원의 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 지적장애 당사자의 학교생활 경험을 인권 차원에서 고찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 학교생활을 모두 마친 20대 지적장애 당사자 5명을 대상으로 그들이 경험한 학교생활이 어떠했는지를 심층 면담을 통해 연구하였다. 연구 결과, ‘참고 견딘 학교생활’, ‘학교생활을 통해 알게 된 나, 장애인’이라는 2개의 대주제와 5개의 하위주제를 도출하였다. 이 주제를 바탕으로 연구자는 첫째, 학교 교육과정 안에서 자연스럽게 배울 수 있는 효과적이고 적극적인 인권교육 방안의 수립과 실천이 요구되고, 둘째, 인권존중의 학교 분위기 조성과 장애학생 개인의 능력에 맞는 교육이 제공되는 교육권 보장 방안이 마련되어야 하며, 셋째, 장애인의 인권보장을 위해 장애에 대한 패러다임이 사회적 모델로 전환되어야 함을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to consider the experience of school life of the people with intellectual disability from a human rights perspective. For this purpose, five people with intellectual disability in their 20s who completed their entire school life were studied through qualitative research methods through in-depth interviews to find out what school life they experienced. As a result of the study, we have included two entities : ‘a patient and enduring school life’, ‘I, the people with disabilities, became aware through school life’. And research has resulted in five subtopics. Based on the results of these studies, researchers suggest that : First, it is necessary to establish and practice effective and active human rights education that can be learned naturally in school curriculum. Second, a measure should be taken to ensure the right to education, which is provided to foster a school atmosphere in respect of human rights and to provide education suited to the abilities of individuals with disabilities. Third, to ensure the human rights of the people with disability, the paradigm for disabilities should be transformed into a social model.
