다문화 초등학생 담임교사의 경험에 관한 문화기술적 사례연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국사회에서 이슈화되고 있는 다문화가정 자녀에 초점을 두고, 그들의 다문화교육의 양상과 그 시행방향을 교사의 관점에서 제시하는 것을 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위한 연구방법으로 관찰과 심층면담을 사용하는 질적 연구 방법 중 하나인 문화기술적 연구방법을 사용하였으며, 연구대상으로는 경기도 내에 위치한 4개의 초등학교에 다니는 다문화가정 초등학교 고학년 자녀, 어머니, 교사를 각각 5명씩 선정되었다. 연구 결과, 교사들이 느끼는 다문화가정 자녀에게 영향을 미치는 요인은 학업관련 요인, 생활태도 관련 요인, 환경적 요인 등 3가지 범주로 집약되었다. 학업관련 요인의 하위요인으는 다문화가정 부모의 낮은 교육열과 자녀들의 낮은 학습능력 그리고 부적절한 학습태도가 도출되었으며, 생활태도 관련 요인에서는 미비한 인성교육과 부적절한 생활습관, 자격지심이 나타났다. 또한 환경적 요인의 하위 요인으로는 경제적 어려움, 어머니의 부족한 언어능력, 사회적 편견이 도출되었다. 이를 통해 다문화교육은 학교라는 교육현장과 초등학생 자녀라는 교육대상의 한 계를 벗어나 그 범위와 대상을 확대해야 하는 필요성이 제시되었다. 결론에서는 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 도출된 각 범주에 대한 논의와 함의를 제언하였다..

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to present the patterns of multicultural education and its implementation directions from the perspective of teachers, focusing on children of multicultural families that are becoming an issue in Korean society. As for research method, the researcher used enthnographic method, one of the qualitative research methods and 5 elementary students from grade 4 to 6 at 4 different elementary schools located in Gyeonggi-do and their mothers and five teachers were selected as research participants. The study analyzed that the main factors affecting the children of multicultural families were summarized into three categories: academic factors, lifestyle factors, and environmental factors. There were sub-factors in each category. First of all, for academic factors were low educational zeal of multicultural parents, love learning ability of children and inappropriate learning behavior. Poor character education, inadequate attitude, and inferiority were the sub-factors related to lifestyle, and financial difficulties, low Korean language ability and social prejudice on multicultural families were shown as the sub-indices of environmental factor. Through this study, it was evident to expand the scope and the target of multicultural education beyond the its educational fields as schools and elementary school children. The conclusion suggested the discussions and implications for each category derived from these results.
