국문 초록

본 연구는 임진․정유재란기 약탈된 조선의 출판문화재에 대한 연구이다. 약탈된 금속활자 20만 자와 수천 권의 도서 중 현재 일본 공기관에 소장돼 있는 목록을 꾸려봄으로써 우리의 출판문화재에 대한 의미를 되새겨보고자 한다. 조선의 출판문화재는 도쿠가와 막부의 문치주의를 이루는 통치근간이 되어 문화발전에 크게 기여하였다. 이로써 우리 출판문화재에 내재된 우수한 가치를 되새겨보는 한편, 이들 약탈본을 외교적 노력으로 되돌려받을 수 있도록, 관련 연구가 이어져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study is on the plundered publishing cultural assets taken by the Japanese Invasion in 1592~1597. This study is the first step in the field of Korean publishing study. During the invasion, Toyotomi organized some special military units in order to plunder Jo-seon cultural assets. However, they took a couple of ten thousand books, more than 20,000 bronze printing types, type-casters, and other printing machines. Nowadays, those are just small amounts which remain in schools, libraries, museums, and public organizations. These plundered Jo-seon publishing cultural assets played an important role of Dokukawa s principles of civilian government, then they achieved ‘Dokukawa s peace’ era, that is ‘Renaissance of Edo’ era. Through this study, I hope achieving two goals. One is thinking over the excellence of our ancient books and publishing cultural assets in order to hand it over. The other one is expecting next concerned studies in order to realize returning the books as our great heritage back to Korea diplomatically.
