전라북도 청년층의 삶의 만족도 결정요인 가구소득 효과에 대한 동네환경, 사회관계, 사회활동의 조절 역할을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 전라북도 청년들의 삶에 대한 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 규명하고, 동네환경에 대한 인식, 1차 집단 구성원들과의 교류 정도, 사회적 활동 참여 수준에 따른 가구소득 효과의 변화를 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 2015년도 지역사회건강조사 원자료 중 전라북도 청년 전체 표본을 사용하였으며, 청년층 내부의 이질성을 고려하여 성별, 연령별로 층화한 후에 하위집단 분석을 수행 하였다. 상기한 요인들과 관련된 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 가구소득은 30대 남성을 제외한 20대 남녀및 30대 여성의 삶에 대한 만족도를 좌우하는 중요한 요인이며, 여타 변수들과 비교할 때 20대 남성에게 가장 결정적이었다. 동네환경 요소들에 대한 만족도와 다양한 사회적 모임의 정기적 참여는 가족, 친구, 이웃과의 직접적인 만남이나 연락 빈도보다 청년들의 삶의 만족도와 더 유의미하게 결부되어 있었다. 특히 20대 남성의 경우 동네 사회자본과 종교·친목·자선봉사활동, 30대 여성의 경우에는 종교·친 목·여가활동의 정적 효과가 상대적으로 강한 편이었다. 한편 30대 남성 사이에서는 동네의 물리적 환경을 긍정적으로 평가할수록 삶의 만족도의 소득 의존성이 오히려 증가하는 경향이 존재하였다. 20대 남성의 경우 가구소득 효과에 대한 사회관계 및 사회활동의 조절 효과가, 30대 여성에게는 사회활동에 의한 조절 작용이 나타났다. 이들의 삶의 만족도에 미치는 소득의 영향력은 1차집단과의 접촉 빈도나 사회활 동성이 높아질수록 감소하는 양상을 띤다. 끝으로 이와 같은 상승 작용과 완충 작용에 초점을 맞춰 본논문의 핵심적 발견이 가지는 정책적 함의를 논의해보았다.

영문 초록

The present study intends to identify determinants of subjective well-being among young adults in Jeollabuk-do and to analyze whether and how the effect of household income changes depending on perceived neighborhood conditions, interpersonal interactions with primary group members, and participation in social activities. Based on stratification by gender and age reflecting the substantial heterogeneity of the targeted population, we conduct subgroup analysis of the sampled residents in their twenties and thirties from the Korean Community Health Survey data in 2015. The main results related to the focal variables of our interest are as follows. First, household income is a crucial factor in the life satisfaction of adults in 20s and females in 30s except males in 30s, with the highest strength of association among males in 20s. Second, satisfaction with neighborhood environments and regular participation in various social groups are more significantly coupled with the life satisfaction of young adults than the frequency of offline contact with family, friends, or neighbors: particularly, there are greater positive impacts of neighborhood social capital and activities in religion, companionship and volunteering among men in 20s and of activities in religion, companionship and recreation among women in 30s. Lastly, the dependency of life satisfaction on material wellbeing for males in 30s is rather enhanced by more positive perceptions of neighborhood amenities. On the contrary, the household income effect on life satisfaction among men in 20s tends to attenuate considerably with increased interactions with others in primary group and more active social participation. Social activities only appear to play such a buffering role among women in 30s. Focusing on these two types of moderation, we discuss practical implications of our key findings.
