시설거주 정신장애인의 회복태도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 강점관점의 회복지향적 접근으로 현재 우리나라의 정신요양시설에서 거주하고 있는 정신 장애인들을 대상으로 회복태도의 수준이 어느 정도이며, 어떤 요인들이 이에 영향을 미치는지에 관해 알아보았다. 연구대상자는 경기도 및 충청북도의 정신요양시설에서 거주하는 정신장애인들이며, 총 306명이다. 이 연구에서는 회복을 회복태도로 조작하여 측정하였다. 이것은 회복에 대한 태도를 신념의 차원에서 측정하고자 개발된 Borkin(2000)의 회복태도질문지(Recovery Attitude Questionnaire)를 사용 하였고, 회복태도에 영향을 미치는 요인은 정신장애인의 일반적 특성, 병식, 자기효능감, 사회적 지지, 영적 안녕감으로 구성되었다. 자료분석을 위해 t-test, Oneway-ANOVA, 상관관계분석, 그리고 위계적 다중회귀분석(hierachical multiple regression analysis) 등이 사용되었다. 연구결과 회복태도 수준은 5점 척도에서 평균 3.54점으로 중간보다 약간 높게 나타난 긍정적인 회복태도를 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 최종 회귀분석모델에서 회복태도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 요인은 병식, 자기효능감, 사회적 지지 그리고 영적 안녕감으로 나타났으며 일반적 특성은 회복태도에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 이 연구에서는 정신보건사업에서 정체성을 잃어가는 정신요양시설에 거주하는 정신장애인들에 대해서도 기존의 의료적 모델에 의한 전문가 중심의 개입이 아닌 정신장애인 스스로의 회복지향적 관점에 의한 사회복지실천적 개입이 가능함을 함의로 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The study aims at identifying the level of recovery attitudes for the Chronically Mentally Ill Living in institutions in Korea and the factors that have an impact on their attitudes. The analysis is based upon the recovery-oriented approach from strengths perspective. In the survey, 306 participants in total who are mental disabilities who live in institutions located in Gyeonggido and Chungcheongbukdo responded to questionnaire inquiries. The author used the proxy variable of the recovery attitude in place of the recovery measure. The survey inquiries were those translated from the Recovery Attitude Questionnaire developed by Borkin(2000), which was designed to measure the belief about attitudes towards recovery. And the factors likely to affect the recovery attitudes consisted of general characteristics, insights, self efficacy, social support, and spiritual well-being for individuals with serious mental illness. Such statistical methods as t-test, Oneway-ANOVA, correlation analysis, hierarchical multiple regression analysis were used. According to the analysis, the levels of recovery attitudes were shown to be 3.54 in average on a five-point Likert Scale, which was slightly above the medium value, so that it explained that the respondents had positive attitude towards recovery. In the final regression analysis model, the factors that significantly influenced the recovery attitudes were insights, self efficacy, social support, and spiritual well-being, while general characteristics were not statistically significant. In conclusion, the research outcome on strengths-based perspectives thus implies that the recovery model as mental disorder approach with regard to the mental disabilities who live in institutions, rather than medical model of disability and expert-centered intervention, enables the social work practice.
