생활공간과 참여계기로서의 건조환경과 지역사회 건강증진

국문 초록

지역사회는 사람, 그들이 생활하는 곳, 활동하는 체계이다. 이 연구는 그 중에서 장소로서의 지역사회, 특히 건강결정요인으로서의 건조환경과 건강의 관련성, 이에 대한 건강증진 연구와 전략, 과제를 고찰하고 건조환경에 대한 지역사회의 관심형성이 참여로 이어질 수 있는 잠재성을 논의했다. 지금까지 미국을 중심으로 신체활동, 식생활, 비만을 위주로 진행되어온 건조환경과 건강연구는 활동적인 삶을 장려하고 건강하고 신선한 식품을 적정가격에 구할 수 있는 건조환경 구축에 건강증진 초점 을 맞추고 있다. 국내연구도 유사한 경향이면서 도시계획 분야의 연구가 활발하고 보건학 연구는 시작단계로 보인다. 실행전략으로는 지역사회 조직과 전문기구, 공공기관이 협의체를 형성하여 각 지역 사회의 상황에 맞는 방법과 내용 개발을 도모하는 다부문 연계·협력구조나 건강도시와 같은 도시 거버넌스 시스템의 역할이 주목된다. 건조환경은 일상생활여건으로서 사람들에게 익숙하고 밀접한 관심의 대상이 되므로, 이에 대한 정보와 계기를 전략적으로 활용하면 참여기반을 형성할 잠재성이 있다. 연구측면에서 양적과 질적의 다양한 연구방법의 개발과 활용, 참여실천연구의 시도, 다학제적 접근,평가의 강화, 비만유발요인 외 다른 건강주제와 건조환경에 대한 연구, 건조환경에 연계한 사회문화환경에 대한 주목이 요구된다.

영문 초록

Community refers to people, the place where people live, and their operating system. This study pays attention to built environment(BE) for placed-andcommunity- focused approaches to health promotion. It also explored a potential of BE-focused health promotion to encourage community participation. Most of research on BE and health so far has been based in the U.S. and focused on obesogenic BE. Thus the current health promotion approach aims to create BE where active living is encouraged and healthy foods are available, accessible, and affordable. Korean studies shows a similar pattern except that there are more urban planning studies than public health studies at this point. Multi-sectoral collaboration with active community participation and the role and competence of community governance system such as the Health Cities are at the center of this approach. BE is the environment of everyday that is familiar and relevant to the community, BE-related issues can serve as a basis for community participation. Research should enhance research design and methods, inter- and transdisciplinary approaches, and advanced evaluation in the BE and health promotion. Multi-methods, mixed methods, and action research approaches are encouraged. BE perspectives should broaden to address topics beyond obesogenic characteristics.
