국내 사회의학 연구 현황분석

국문 초록

최근 국내에서 사회의학 분야의 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 특히, 건강 행태와 건강 불평등에 대한 많은 연구가 이루어지면서, 건강의 다양한 결정요인에 대한 이해를 넓히는데 기여하고 있다. 본 연구는 국내 사회의학 연구의 현황을 파악하고, 향후 발전방향을 도출하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 국내 주요 학회지 4개를 선정하여 2004년, 2009년, 2014년 사회의학 분야 논문을 전수를 분석하였다. 분석 내용은 각 논문의 연구 주제, 연구 방법, 자료원, 연구 성격, 연구 기간, 저자 전공분야 등이었다. 총 278편의 논문을 분석한 결과, 전체의 70%가 건강관련 행태, 보건의료 경제, 건강 수준, 보건의료 서비스의 연구 주제를 다룬 것으로 나타났다. 연구 방법 측면에서는 99.6%가 양적 연구, 0.4%가 질적 연구였다. 양적 연구의 88.1%는 단면연구이었다. 2차 자료를 활용한 연구가 56.5%를 차지했고, 특히 행정자료가 큰 비중을 차지했다. 문제 발견형 연구가 63.0%, 문제 진단형 연구가 20.9%, 문제해결형 연구가 4.0%를 차지했으며, 다학제적 접근을 통해 이루어진 연구는 10.7%인 것으로 나타났다. 국내 사회의학 연구는 짧은 기간 동안에 급격한 양적 성장을 이루었다. 그러나 연구 주제가 특정분야에 치중되거나, 다양한 연구방법론을 활용하지 못하고, 사회의학 분야 연구에서 더욱 중요한 다학제적 접근이 활발하게 이루어지지 못한 한계를 보이고 있다. 문제 해결을 위한 연구의 비중이 낮은것도 중요한 극복과제이다. 향후 이 같은 한계를 해소하기 위한 연구자의 노력과 관심, 그리고 제도적, 재정적 지원이 필요할 것이다.

영문 초록

Recently, social medicine researches are vigorously being studied in South Korea. Particularly, these researches are contributing to public’s broad awareness about a plethora of major factors for individual health, conducting studies of health behaviors and health inequality. This study is aimed to figure out the current social medicine studies and reach a conclusion about future development. In this study, 4 major medical journals in South Korea were studied and the whole researches, within social medicine section published in 2004, 2009 and 2014, were analyzed. The analysis will include each research’s subject, method, data source, character, duration, and researcher’s major. As a consequence of the analysis of 278 researches, this revealed that health related behavior, health economics, health status, health service accounted for 70% of the whole thesis subjects. Regarding methodology, quantitative research took up 99.6% and qualitative research did 0.4%. Among the quantitative research, 88.1% was cross-sectional studies. Using secondary data accounted for 56.5% and, especially, administrative data took a large portion. Also, this showed distribution ratios as follows; problem-finding study (63.0%), problem-analyzing study (20.9%), problem-solving study (4.0%) and multidisciplinary study (10.7%). Domestic researches rapidly resulted in its quantitative growth in a short period time. However, these also showed unbalanced research subject, limited methodology, inactive multidisciplinary study necessary for study in social medicine field. Less weight on problem-solving study is another crucial challenge to overcome. Therefore, these will be in need of researchers’ effort and attention, institutional and financial support to address these issues for the future.
