대학생 글쓰기의 문제해결형 개요짜기 모델 연구

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 대학생 글쓰기에서 글의 형태를 구성하는 체계적 구조 설계법이 필요하다는 배경 하에 문제해결형 개요짜기 모델(Outline-making Learning, OML)을 제시하고자 한다. OML은 글쓰기를 통해서 전달하고자하는 핵심 메시지를 담는 본론쓰기를 위한 모형이다. OML은 Barrows & Myers (1993)와 Duffy & Cunningham (1996)가 활용했던 초기 형태의 문제중심학습(Problem-based Learning, PBL)의 기본절차 6단계를 4단계로 재구성했다. 1단계는 주어진 과제 또는 문제를 인식하여 세부과제로 나누는 ‘문제의 정의’ 단계, 2단계는 세부과제들을 해결하기 위해 질문형식으로 바꾸는 ‘문제의 재구성’ 단계, 3단계는 재구성된 문제들에 적합한 해결방안들을 탐색, 검토하여 중심문장을 선택하는 단계, 4단계는 3단계, 중심문장 선택→2단계, 문제 재구성→1단계, 문제정의로 거슬러 올라가면서 문제해결 여부를 확인하며 중심문장을 최종결정하는 단계이다. 각각의 단계는 유기적인 구조와 흐름을 가지고 전체 글이 되는 과정에 글쓰기 뼈대를 만드는 역할을 하게 된다. OML의 특징은 첫째, 글쓰기에서 가장 핵심적인 작업인 개요짜기를 서두와 결말을 잊는 역할을 하는 본론의 중심문장과 세부항목들을 학습자 스스로가 ‘질문하기’를 통해 자발적으로 설계할 수 있게 구성되었다는 것이다. 둘째, 집필 의도가 흐트러지지 않게 학습자 자신이 전달하고자 하는 메시지를 명확하게 구조화시킬 수 있도록 하였다는 것이다. 따라서 OML은 대학생 글쓰기에서 체계적인 본론 개요짜기를 통하여 일관성 있는 글쓰기가 가능하게 할 것이며, 대학생 글쓰기 교육에도 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the presented research is to suggest Outline-making Learning Model (OML) based on the necessity of systematic structuring method for outline-making in undergraduate writing courses. OML is the model for writing ‘body’ part where the salient message is included. OML reconstructs the 6 steps of Problem-based Learning (PBL) into 4 steps that Barrows & Myers (1993) and Duffy & Cunningham (1996) suggested. First step is the ‘defining the problem’ step that given subject for writing is separated into detailed assignments. Second step is the ‘restructuring the problem’ where the writer changes detailed assignments into questions so that the questions can be answered in next step. Third step is the combination of ‘exploring, examining, and selecting the answer’ that writer finds appropriate answers for questions which can be the main sentences for each paragraph in ‘body’ part of writing. Fourth step is the final round that writer goes up-stream of prior three steps in reverse order to check each questions, assignments, and initial purpose of writing are fulfilled. Each step forms organic connection to each other and helps constructing the systematic frame of writing. The contribution of OML is that it facilitates self-directed activities for learners to sort out the organized main and sub messages by ‘questioning’ process. Secondly, it also helps writers to structure outline of writing without losing initial purpose of the writing. Therefore, the OML model would be an effective solution for undergraduates writing courses to enable students to approach writing with systematic method.
