영재반 학생들의 특성 및 만족도 중심으로 고찰한 대학 부설 과학영재교육원 프로그램 평가 사례

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 형성평가의 관점에서 S대학 부설 과학영재교육원에 재학 중인 학생들을 대상으로 설문조사와 면담 조사를 통해 학생들이 수업에서 느끼는 만족도와 융합 인재 소양 등을 파악하여 프로그램을 향상시키는 데 있다. 우리는 2017년 11월에 학생들에게 설문 조사를 실시하였고 후속적으로 2018년 3월까지 학생, 학부모, 영재교육 실무자를 대상으 로 면담을 실시하였다. ANOVA 및 내용 분석 방법을 토대로 설문지 및 면담 자료를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 전반적으로 S대학 부설 과학영재교육원에서 제공하는 프로그램에 대하여 학생들이 느끼는 만족도는 높은 것으로 나타났다. 학생들의 융합 인재 소양을 파악하기 위한 설문 분석의 결과 각 과정별로 유의미한 그룹별 차이가 나타나지 않았으나 초등융합, 중등심화, 중등사사 기초반 순서대로 융합인재소양에 관한 평균이 높게 나타났다. 참여 학생들은 대체로 어렸을 때부터 과학에 대한 흥미와 관심이 높았고, 과학영재교육원에서 제공하는 프로그램을 통해 자신의 잠재된 역량을 활발하게 펼치는 활동을 할 수 있었다. 구체적으로 보면 중등 심화과정 학생들은 다양한 실험을 통한 과학탐구 활동에서 만족감을 느꼈으나 수학 전공 학생들의 경우 강의식 수업에서 만족도가 낮게 나타났다. 그리고 중등 사사 기초과정 학생들은 미니 사사 프로젝트를 통해 자신만의 연구를 수행하면서 만족감을 나타내었다. 우리는 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 향후에 과학영재원 프로그램을 향상시키는 방향을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims at formatively evaluating the participating gifted students satisfaction about various class activities in a university attached Science Gifted Education Center. In this research, we intended to investigate the overall program based on the survey data collected between November 2017 and March 2018 for 181 students. The supplementary interviews were conducted for the students, some of their parents as well staff members. The data analysis was done by combining ANOVA for the survey data and content analysis for the interview data. It turned out that the science education center for gifted students provided the students high quality programs. The survey results indicated that there was no group difference except satisfaction category. The elementary level students revealed higher satisfaction than mentor-based basic level students and upper level students. Regarding STEAM literacy survey, there was no group difference either. However, the following showed the higher mean values in order: elementary level group, mentor-based basic level group and the upper level group. According to the interview data analysis, most of the participating students were highly interested in science from their early ages and tended to unfold their scientific curiosity and latent capabilities. Additionally, the mentor-based basic level students were satisfied by conducting their own mini projects. At the end, we offered some suggestions for enhancing the overall program based on the results of this study.
