불일치 실험 사례를 접한 중학교 과학 영재 학생들의 특징 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 중학교 과학 영재 학생들의 예상과 불일치 하는 사례를 접했을 때 나타나는 다양한 반응을 이해할 목적으로 진행되었다. 본 연구에서 학생들에게 물의 끓는점 실험에서 나타나는 가열 곡선 모양을 예상하게 하고 실제 실험에서 관찰한 내용을 바탕으로 불일치 현상을 설명하게 하였다. 학생 반응을 분석한 결과, 모든학생이 인지갈등을 경험하였고, 나타난 학생 반응은 거부, 귀추적 재해석, 주변이론변화 유형 등이 있었다. 거부와 재해석 유형의 학생들은 과학 이론에 대한 믿음이 확고하여 불일치 사례를 자신의 생각처럼 해석하거나, 불일치 사례를 자신의 생각으로 설명하지만 그 원인을 추가 탐색하려는 경향을 보이지 않았다. 실험 증거에 기반한 주변 이론 변화 유형의 학생들은 자신의 예상과 다른 불일치 사례를 이론적 부연 설명 없이 실험에서 관찰한 현상만을 이용하여 설명하였고, 비과학적 지식에 기반한 주변 이론 변화 유형의 학생들은 불일치 사례를 자신의 비과학적 지식으로 설명하거나 비논리적인 부연으로 설명을 하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to understand the various responses of middle school science gifted students when they encountered discrepant experimental cases. In this study, students were asked to predict the shape of the heating curve in the water boiling point experiment and explain the discrepant phenomenon based on the observations in the actual experiment. As a result of analyzing the students responses, all students experienced cognitive conflicts. Students in the type of the rejection and reinterpretation, had a firm belief in scientific theories, and interpreted the discrepant cases as their own thoughts. and also they explained the discrepant cases with my own thoughts, but did not show any tendency to further search for the cause. The students in the type of the peripheral theory change based on the experimental evidence, explained the discrepant cases with only the phenomenon observed in the experiment without any theoretical explanation, students in the type of the peripheral theory change based on non-scientific knowledge, explained the discrepant cases with their non-scientific knowledge or explained it in an illogical details.
