상담관계에서 대학생 내담자의 자율성 욕구 중요도가 초기작업동맹에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 자기결정이론의 기본 심리적 욕구(자율성, 유능성, 관계성)를 적용하여, 내담자의 자율성 욕구 중요도가 이들이 지각하는 초기작업동맹에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 살펴보았다. 또한 상담자의 기본심리적 욕구 중요도가 내담자의 자율성 욕구 중요도와 초기작업동맹 간의 관계를 조절하는지 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 대학상담센터에서 개인 상담을 받고 있는 105명의 내담자와 이들의 39명의 상담자를 대상으로 설문을 실시하여 회귀분석을 한 결과, 내담자의 자율성 욕구 중요도는 초기작업동맹에 긍정적인 영향을 미치며, 상담자의 자율성과 유능성 욕구 중요도가 이러한 관계를 조절하는 것으로 확인되었다. 상담자의 자율성 욕구 중요도가 높을수록, 내담자의 자율성 욕구 중요도와 초기작업동맹 간의 정적 관계가 높아지는 반면에 상담자의 유능성 욕구 중요도가 높을수록 내담자의 자율성 욕구 중요도와 초기작업동맹 간의 정적 관계가 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과의 시사점과 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Based on the three psychological needs (autonomy, competence, and relatedness) in the self-determination theory, the purpose of this study was to test how the clients’ perceived importance of autonomy needs in the therapeutic relationship would influence their working alliance. In addition, we examined whether the therapists’ perceived importance of basic psychological needs would have moderate effects. For this purpose, a total of 99 clients from university counseling centers and their 37 therapists participated in the survey. The results of regression analyses revealed that the clients’ perceived importance of autonomy needs was positively related to working alliance and that the therapists’ perceived importance of autonomy and competence needs moderated such a relationship. More specifically, therapists’ importance of autonomy needs strengthened the positive relationship between clients’ importance of autonomy needs and working alliance, while therapists’ importance of competence needs weakened the positive relationship between clients’ importance of autonomy needs and working alliance. Based on these findings, we discussed implications for therapy and suggestions for future research.
