생물다양성 보존에 대한 초등학교 예비교사들의 지식, 인식, 태도에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 서울, 경기지역, 전라북도, 충청북도에 소재한 4개 초등교사 양성기관 대학교 재학생 696명의 대상으로 생물다양성 보전에 대한 초등 예비교사의 지식, 인식, 태도 수준을 조사하고, 그 상관관계를 알아봄으로써 초등교사 양성기관의 교육과정 구성과 환경교육의 방향 결정에 기초자료로 제공하기 위하여 수행하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 분석된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등 예비교사의 생물다양성 보전에 대한 지식 하위 영역 중 생물다양성의 개념과 특징에 관한 지식 수준은 높으나, 생물다양성 감소에 관한 지식 수준은 낮게 나타났다. 생물다양성 보전에 대한 인식 하위 영역 중 생물다양성의 손실과 보전에 관한 인식수준은 높으나, 인간 생활과의 연관성에 관한 인식수준은 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 생물다양성 보전에 대한 태도 하위 영역 중에서는 생물다양성 보전을 위한 실천적 참여에 관한 태도수준은 높게 나타났으나, 생물다양성 보전에 대한 의지 수준은 낮게 나타났다. 둘째, 초등 예비교사의 생물 다양성 보전에 대한 지식, 인식, 태도수준은 성별 및 학년에 따른 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았으나 환경교육 관련 경험이 있는 예비교사가 환경교육 관련 경험이 없는 예비교사보다 인식(p<.05) 및 태도(p<.001)수준이 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 초등 예비교사의 생물다양성에 대한 지식, 인식, 태도의 상관관계 분석 결과, 지식과 인식(p<.05), 인식과 태도(p<.001)간에 정적인 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으나, 지식과 태도 간에는 상관관계가 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구 결과, 초등학교에서 생물다양성 보전교육이 실제적이고 효과적으로 이루어지기 위해 초등교사 양성기관에서 생물다양성 보전에 대한 내용이 포함된 강좌를 개설하여 보다 적극적인 예비교사 교육을 실시할 필요가 있는 것으로 보인다. 그리고 초등 예비교사의 생물다양성 보전에 대한 지식, 인식, 태도 수준을 균형적으로 향상시키기 위한 체계적인 프로그램의 개발이 필요하며 생물다양성과 관련된 다양한 콘텐츠를 접할 수 있는 기회를 제공해야 할 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

The purposes of this study is to investigate the knowledge, awareness and attitude of pre-service elementary school teachers towards biodiversity conservation. The pre-service teachers were chosen for purposive sampling from the four Universities of Education located in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Jeollabuk-do and Chungcheongbuk-do. 696 questionnaires out of 757 collected questionnaires were subjected to data analysis. Participants’ knowledge, awareness, and attitude on biodiversity conservation were measured through 30 questions consisting of 10 items for knowledge, awareness, and attitude respectively, with 3 demographic variables. Statistical analysis was conducted on each of the variables that make up knowledge, awareness, and attitude on biodiversity conservation through means, t -test, F distribution and Pearson correlation, using SPSS 21.0. The results of the survey are as follows. First, the knowledge level of concept and feature of biodiversity among knowledge sub-categories of pre-service teachers biodiversity conservation was high, but their knowledge level on biodiversity reduction was low. Participants’ awareness level of biodiversity loss and conservation among the awareness sub-categories of iodiversity conservation was high, but their level of perception about the relation with human life was low. And their attitude level of practical participation for biodiversity conservation towards biodiversity conservation among the attitude sub-categories was high, but their willingness to conserve biodiversity was low. Second, there was no difference between pre-service elementary school teachers’ knowledge, awareness and attitude on biodiversity conservation in gender and grade. As for the impact of environmental education, the pre-service teachers who have experiences in environmental education has higher level of awareness and attitude to biodiversity conservation than those who do not. Third, concerning the correlation analysis among knowledge, awareness and attitude towards biodiversity conservation, there was a positive correlations between knowledge and awareness (p<.05) as well as between awareness and attitude (p<.001), but there was no correlation between knowledge and attitude.
