루터와 칼빈의 기독교학교교육관과 오늘날에의 적용점

국문 초록

이 논문에서는 루터와 칼빈의 학교교육관을 살펴보고 거기서 오늘날의 기독교학교교육에 적용할 수 있는 교육적 원리와 교훈들을 확인하고자 하였다. 학교교육관에 있어서 루터와 칼빈에게서 공통적으로 발견할 수 있는 것은 교육과정의 기초이자 핵심은 성경이 되어야 한다는 사상이다. 둘째, 이들은 기독교학교는 교회만이 아니라 정부 기관, 그리고 사회에서 하나님의 뜻에 합당하게 일할 수 있는 지도자들을 배출해야 한다고 강조하였다. 이러한 생각은기독교학교에서 일반 학문을 가르칠 것으로 이어졌다. 또한 정부는 기독교학교의 설립과 유지에 재정적인 지원을 해야 한다고 주장하였다. 셋째, 이들은성경이 모든 사람들에게 가르쳐져야 한다는 가장 기본적인 신념하에 의무교육을 강조하였다. 그들의 사상이 오늘날의 기독교교육에 주는 적용점은 첫째, 오늘날에도 교리문답과 같은 기독교학교 설립과 운영을 지지하는 세력들이 함께 공유하는성경적 세계관에 부합하는 교과서이자 의사소통 도구가 마련될 필요가 있다는 것이다. 둘째, 오늘날 우리에게 기독교학교의 설립과 운영을 위해서 종교개혁 당시만큼의 수준으로 사회 전체가 기독교학교 설립과 운영에 참여하지는 못하더라도 그 학교들의 설립과 운영을 위해서는 가능한 모든 가용 세력들을 규합하고 공동의 노력을 기울이는 것이 필요하다는 것이다. 셋째, 기독교학교의 교사와 교육 행정 지도자의 양성과 계속 교육을 위한 교육 기관의 설립, 그리고 기존 교육 기관의 운영 합리화와 효율성 제고가 필요하며, 기독교학교교육을 지향하는 제 세력의 이 일을 위한 후원과 기도가 필수적이라는 점이다.

영문 초록

This paper investigated the views of Luther and Calvin about Christian Schools and found out the educational principles and lessons that may apply to today’s Christian school education. Both Luther and Calvin asserted that the foundation of the curriculum and the core in the schools must be the Bible. Second, they emphasized that Christian schools should rear up the leaders who can work not only for churches, but also for governmental agencies and society in accordance with God’s will. This thought led to the idea that Christian schools should teach general disciplines. They also insisted that the government should provide financial support for the establishment and maintenance of Christian schools. Third, they emphasized compulsory education under the most basic belief that the Bible should be taught to all. The first implication found in their views to today’s Christian education is that there is a need for textbooks and communication tools such as catechism consistent with the Biblical worldview for all the persons supporting the establishment and operation of Christian schools. Second, even though the persons can not participate in the establishment and operation of Christian schools at the level of the reformation age, it is necessary for all possible available forces to make joint efforts for the establishment and operation of the schools. Third, it is necessary to establish educational institutions to educate teachers and educational administrators of Christian schools, and to improve the efficiency of existing educational institutions. Lastly, prayer as well as support for the Christian schools is absolutely essential for the existence and growth of the schools.
