국문 초록

본고는 Hannah Arendt의 ‘탄생성’이 갖는 교육학적 의미 탐구를 목적으로 하고 있다. 우선 예비적 고찰이라 할 수 있는 제 I장에서는 근래 국내 교육학계에 고조되고 있는 Arendt 연구의 경향을 Arendt의 ‘탄생성’의 관점에서 스케치하고, 본 연구가 갖는 연구사적 위치와 의미를 확인한다. 제 II장에서는 인간실존의 근본조건으로서 탄생성이 Arendt를 통해 주목받게 된 배경을 고찰하되, 전통적 철학과 전통적 교육학의 주된 소재였던 ‘사멸성’과의 상대적 관련성이라는 관점에서 탄생성을 조명한다. 제 III장에서는 탄생성이 제공하는 교육학적 사유의 계기를 다원성, 우연성, 관계성 등으로 범주화하고, 그 의미를 탐색한다. 이를 바탕으로 제 IV장에서는 탄생성이라는 새로운 관점의 교육학적 사유 또는 탄생성의 교육학적 계기들이 전통적 교육학의 사유방식과 나뉘고 갈등하는 임계점에 대한 성찰을 통해 전통적 교육학 및 이른바 탄생성의 교육학의 교육(인간)학적 성격을 더욱 분명히 함과 동시에, 이러한 차이와 갈등의 결정체라 할수 있는 ‘새로움의 보존’(Arendt)의 의미탐구를 통해 이른바 탄생성의 교육학의 한계와 가능성을 고찰한다.

영문 초록

This study investigates the pedagogical meaning of ‘Natality’ by Hannah Arendt, which is one of the key concepts of her works The Human Condition and ‘The Crisis of Education.’ In the first chapter we try to sketch how the Natality-research has developed itself in the last decade and where it stands at the moment focusing on the research topography in Korea. In the second chapter we will show how the Natality became a competing concept - mainly through the work by Arendt- with Mortality, which has been the main perspective for traditional philosophy as well as pedagogy. In the next chapter, we will suggest three characteristics of Natality (plurality, contingency and relationality), the empirical factuality and pedagogical meaning of which have been overlooked in the history of instrumental, subject-centered and rationality-based pedagogy. Drawing the border line between the traditional pedagogy and the new concept of pedagogy which can be called a Pedagogy of Natality, we will review and reconstruct the definition of education and pedagogical-anthropological concepts in the following chapter. And lastly we will also show the possibility and limit of this new pedagogical concept inspired by Arendt pointing out the paradoxical essence of ‘preserving newness’ as an educational mission suggested by her.
