국문 초록

프랑스는 유럽에서 역사에 가장 큰 관심을 지닌 나라로 초등학교 4,5학년부터 중･고등학교에 이르기까지 총 9년 동안 전 계열, 전 학년에서 역사･지리과목 수업을 진행하고 있다. 특히 역사･지 리는 사회과 관련 과목들을 대체하고 있다는 점에서 다른 교과목과의 관계에서도 많은 비중을 차지하고 있다. 초등학교에서는 프랑스사를 중심으로 한 정체성 형성에 초점을 맞추고 있다면 중학 교에서는 선사시대부터 현대사까지의 통사를 유럽사를 중심으로 가르치고 있다. 고등학교에서는 중학교에서 배운 내용을 주제별로 정리한 다음 20세기 역사를 집중적으로 배우면서 현대사회의 다양한 문제들을 비판적으로 다룬다. 이중 2015년에 새롭게 개정된 중학교 역사과 교육과정은 최근에 전개되고 있는 ‘민족서사’ 논쟁과 밀접한 관련을 맺고 있다. 자국사를 탈피하여 교류사에 초점을 두었던 2008년 교육과정에 대한 비판에 따라 2015년 교육과정은 다시 자국사 중심의 역사 서술로 돌아갔기 때문이다. 현재 프랑스에서 시행되고 있는 역사교육은 세 가지 특징들을 지닌다. 첫째는 정부의 역사교육 정책은 역사분야에 열정적인 모습을 보여주고 있는 시민사회 및 학계의 다양한 논의들을 수렴하여 결정된다는 점이다. 둘째는 초･중･고 간의 교과내용 구성이다. 초등학 교가 자국사 중심의 통사, 중학교가 유럽사 중심의 통사로 구성되어 있다면 고등학교에서는 현대 세계에 대한 역사비판적 성찰을 함양하는 주제사로 구성되어 있다. 이는 한국 상황에도 매우 주목할 만한 특징이 된다. 셋째는 정부가 제시하는 교육과정이나 학습지도안, 그리고 졸업자격시험이 역사교육의 통일성을 부여한다면 교과서 자유발행제와 교사의 자율 재량권은 그 다양성을 확보한 다는 점이다.

영문 초록

In France, most interested in History in Europe, Hisory- Geography classes are given from the 4th grade of the Elementary school to the end of the High school, during 9 years. Especially, Compared to other subjects, History-Geography is significantly dominant in that it substitute for the social studies education. In the History Education programs, while the Elementary school programs focus on the formation of national identity around French history, the Middle school programs teach European History from prehistoric times to contemporary world. In High school, after a brief abstract of Middle school classes by topics, History of 20th Century and various themes of contemporary world are intensively taught and discussed. History Education programs with the Reforms in 2015 is closely related with the debate on ‘national narrative’ in progress up to date. History education in actual France shows three characteristics. At first, the History Education policy is determined by collecting of various discussions issued from different civil and academic societies. The second is the structures of different curriculums among elementary, middle and high schools. In the elementary, the chronological history of France is taught and in the middle, the chronological history around the Europe. But the high school elaborate the historical and critical point of view about the contemporary world. Finally, while the curriculum, the guidelines for teaching and the baccalauréat ensure the unity of history education, the free publication of textbook and the discretionary authority of teacher secure the its diversity.
