국문 초록

1920~1930년대에 집중된 근대 한국인의 상해 기행문은 도시 체험에 기초한 식민지 지식인의 근대적 감각 및 인식의 변화과정을 극명히 보여주는 기록물이다. 그 중 상당한 편폭을 차지 하고 있는 여성서사는 사회 공공영역에 드러난 여성의 육체성에 주목함으로써 자본주의에 의해 자극된 물질적 욕망과 이역문화에 대한 동경이 하나로 아우러져 성적 욕망으로 이행하고 있음을 보여주고 있다. 또한 남성과 대등한 주체로 서의 여성을 설정하지 못한 채 여성을 물상화함 으로써, 남성 지배적 시선이 여성 ‘죽이기 와 ’벌 하기 로 이어지기도 한다. 한편, 상해 기행문은 여성의 사회진출에 주목함으로써 성적 욕망과 근대적 욕망이 혼재한 양가적 감정을 드러내고 있으며, 근대 지식인 여성 스스로가 서구적 질서에 재편됨으로써 새로운 소외를 낳기도 한다. 이에 본고는 다층적 의미의 장소였던 조차지 상해 에서 여성이 자본주의 현실과 근대성의 논리적 틈새 및 서양인과 자국 지식인의 이중적 시선 속에서 거듭 노출되고 변형되어 왔음을 밝히고자 하였으며, 근대적 인간으로 거듭나기까지 거쳐야만 했던 모순되고 소외적인 과정에 한국인 스스로가 동참해 왔음을 성찰하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

Koreans travel notes about Shanghai-particularly in the 1920s and 1930s-clearly recorded the changes in Koreans emotions and cognition in the urban setting. Writings about women, which account for a large proportion, focused on feminine corporeality in the social public domain, indicating that the material desires brought about by capitalism merged with Koreans longing for exotic cultures, and morphed into sexual desire for women. Based on the absence of female characters enjoying a subjective voice and an equal status to men s, the authoritative male discourses expressed the tropes of death of women and punishment of women by objectifying women. Meanwhile, Koreans expressed their polarized modern feelings, sexual desires, and modern desires by centering on women s social activities. However, modern female intellectuals also suffered alienation when integrating into the Western value system. Therefore, this paper aims to reveal women s repeated exposure and distortion in the Shanghai concession, where multiple values coexisted in the cracks between the reality of capitalism and the modernity value system and in the eyes of both westerners and domestic intellectuals. Additionally, it reflects on the idea that Koreans also played a role as participants and copartners in the contradictory alienation process of being reborn as modern people.
