화전가와 여성기행가사의 놀이와 여행 체험에 나타난 여성의식 비교

국문 초록

이 글의 목표는 규방가사 중에 여성의 여행체험이 주로 나타난 기행가사와 화전가 계열 작품들을 대상으로 작품에 나타난 여행 체험과 놀이의 특성을 비교 검토하고, 나아가 20세기 이후에 여성에 의해 창작된 기행가사 작품들에 19세기 작품들의 특성이 어떠한 방식으로 계승되었는가를 파악해보는 것이었다. 화전가와 19세기 여성작 기행가사는 여행이 자유롭지 않던 조선시대 말 사족층 여성들을 중심으로 주로 향유되면서, 제한적이지만 그들이 체험했던 여행의 노정과 견문, 개인적 감상 및 놀이 체험 등을 드러내는 통로로 활용되면서 여성의식의 발현에 기여했다. 특히 화전가는 놀이를 통한 여성간의 소통과 화합에 기여했다면 기행가사 쪽은 가문에 대한 과시와 여정을 중심으로 한 경물 소개에 더 핵심이 맞춰져 있다는 점에서 상대적 비교도 가능했다. 20세기 이후 1970년대까지 이르면서 여성들의 기행가사는 계속 창작되었는데, 지식층의 작품은 19세기 기행가사의 전통을 이으면서도 놀이적 성격은 배제하고 경물 묘사와 역사의식 제고 중심으로 나아간데 반해, 대중적 작품은 19세기 여성작 기행가사와 화전가가 지녔던 특징들을 아우르면서 놀이와 여행 체험을 동시에 시대 배경 속에 담아내는 특징을 보여주었다. 화전가가 놀이를 통해 여성간의 소통과 화합에 크게 기여했던 점이 20세기 작품에서는 상대적으로 약화된 측면이 있어 아쉬운 면모를 드러냈다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to compare and examine the characteristics of travel experience and games shown in travel Gasa and Hwajenga works in Kyubanggasa, which describe mainly travel experiences of women. It further seeks to examine how the characteristics of 19th-century works were handed down to women s travel Gasa works in the 20th century and subsequent periods. Hwajenga and the nineteenth-century women s travel Gasa were mainly enjoyed by women of nobility in late Joseon Dynasty, when their travels were not free. Albeit to a limited extent, they were used as a pathway to reveal the women s journeys and journals of travel, personal appreciation of journeys and play experience. This contributed to awakening women s consciousness. Especially, Hwajenga was understood to contribute to women s communication and harmony through play, while travel Gasa was understood to be more focused on introducing articles with emphasis on boasting of their families and journeys, making a comparison. From the 20th century until the 1970s, women s travel Gasa continued to be created, offering the harmony of the features of the 19th-century women s travels Gasa and Hwajenga, and incorporating the backgrounds of the times. However, the fact that Hwajenga contributed greatly to the communication and harmony between women through play was handed down in the 20th century works, but it was regressed in certain aspects.
