노년기 죽음불안과 영성, 낙관성의 관계

국문 초록

본 연구는 노년기 죽음불안이 삶의 질과 밀접한 관련이 있음에 주목하고, 스트레스 상황에서 유용한 심리적 대처자원으로 다루어져 온 영성과 낙관성이 죽음불안과 어떠한 관계를 맺고 있는지 살펴보았다. 선행연구들을 통해 영성이 죽음불안에 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 경로와 낙관성을 매개로 죽음불안에 영향을 미치는 경로를 포함한 연구모형을 설정하고, 2016년 춘천거주 노인 2,000명을 대상으로 설문조 사를 통해 수집된 자료를 구조방정식 모형을 활용하여 검증하였다. 분석결과 연구모형의 모형적합도가 양호함을 확인하였고, 노인의 영성이 죽음불안에 직접적으로 영향을 미치지 않으나 영성이 낙관성을 매개로 죽음불안에 간접적으로 영향을 미침을 확인하였다. 이와 같은 연구결과는 영성 계발을 바탕으로한 낙관성 향상이 죽음불안을 경감시킬 수 있음을 의미하고, 노년기 영성계발 프로그램의 중요성과 필요 성을 강조하는 것이다.

영문 초록

Focusing on relation of the death anxiety and quality of life in old age, our researchers paid attention to the relationship between optimism, spirituality and death anxiety. Reviewing previous researches, the research model was proposed. The aim of this study was to examine the suitability of the research model and to test the direct effect of spirituality to death anxiety as well the mediated effects of optimism. The Structural Equation Model(SEM) was employed to fulfill the study objective. Subjects included 2000 persons aged 65 and over in Chuncheon. The results of this study were as follows: The research model fitted well to the elderly. Among the paths from the elderly s spirituality to the death anxiety, the direct effect of spirituality was not statistically significant. Also, the spirituality was found to decrease to the death anxiety indirectly through more optimism. Therefore, the results suggest that the improvement of optimism based on the spirituality can reduce the death anxiety and emphasize on the importance of the spiritual development program for the elderly.
