창의성 신장을 위한 로봇 활용 교육에 관한 질적연구 방법 탐구

국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 로봇 활용 교육에서 창의성 신장과 관련된 연구를 수행하고자 할 때 도입할 수 있는 질적 자료 수집 방법을 소개하고 방법적 특징과 사례를 비교 고찰하는 것이다. 구체적으로 연구자는 비참여 관찰의 대용으로 사용되는 비디오 촬영 및 분석 방법을 소개한 후에 로봇 키트를 사용하여 탐구 활동을 하는 과정에서 진행할 수 있는 면담 기법을 소개하였다. 로봇 키트의 기계적 특성과 센서의 전기/전자적 특성, 그리고 컴퓨터 프로그래밍 등이 서로 맞물려있는 도구와 상호작용하는 학생들의 활동을 비디오로 촬영하면서 자연스러운 대화식으로 후속 질문을 던지는 기법을 중요하게 다루었다. 또한 비디오 기반 회상 면담은 비디오 촬영 및 분석을 하는 과정에서 미처 이해하기 못하였거나 해석 과정에서 더 탐구해야 할 부분이 생겼을 때 추후에 비디오를 보면서 연구참여자와 함께 탐구해 나가는 방법이다. 구체적인 이해를 돕기 위해 연구자는 영재반 학생 두 명이 고고보드를 이용하여 자신만의 창작품을 만드는 사례를 소개하면서 질적 자료 수집과 분석에서 고려해야 할 사항을 논의하였다. 끝으로 로봇 활용 교육과 창의성에 관하여 탐구해 볼 만한 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 덧붙였다.

영문 초록

This paper aims to understand and present several techniques to collect qualitative data in the area of robot-based education to promote creative aspects of participants, using the robotic tools. The author first tried to figure out how to record the robotbased classroom activities with video camera and how to analyze the video data. Secondly, interview method was presented for the researcher to explore the procedural intermediate steps in assembling and manipulating robotic pieces to complete an individual project. Concerning the complexity of robotic tools, associated with mechanical, electronic/electrical and computational functions, it was very crucial that the researcher probed interview questions to allow participating students to naturally reveal his/her own ways of interacting with robotic tools. In addition, video-based recalled interview allowed the researcher to explore more about the participant’s activities that were not clearly interpreted or maybe remained unveiled, while reviewing the video clip later. Such qualitative data helped the researcher not only observe the participant’s ways of reacting with robotic tools and naturally revealing his/her own inner traits, attitudes, interests, motivation, satisfaction etc., but also investigate the creative aspects of the participants while utilizing robotic tools. To ensure better understanding, the researcher presented two gifted students’ cases, showing how the different qualitative methods were employed while observing how they dealt with GoGo board to design and build up their own invention and further discussed the issues involved in the robot-based education. At the end, the researcher suggested ideas for follow-up research based on diverse qualitative methods after reviewing the early childhood education where robot-related activities were actively utilized.
