노인여가활동의 성별차이와 관련요인 비교 연구

국문 초록

노년기의 여가활동은 생활만족과 건강을 유지케 해주는 귀중한 복지자원이다. 그러나 개인의 복지자원으로써 여가활동은 초 고령층으로 갈수록 성비의 불균형으로 인하여 남녀에 따라서 차별적으로 경험될 개연성에 대한 우려가 존재한다. 따라서 본 논문은 노인 여가활동 참여율의 성별 차이와 관련요인의 남녀차이를 밝히는 동시에 실천적 함의를 제시하고자 하였다. 이 목적을 수행하기 위하여 전국 표본 조사를 통해서 구해진 60세 이상의 남녀 노인 2,103명을 대상으로 여가 참여율을 구하고, 노인전체 표본과 남녀 개별 표본으로 분리하여 관련 요인의 성별 차이를 로지스틱 회귀분석을 통해 추정하였다. 본 연구에서 정의된 전체 여가활동 참여율은 여자 노인이 약 23%정도 높은 것으로 나타났고, 개별 여가활동에서 관련 요인의 성별차이도 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로 여자노인에게는 여행·관광·나들이에서 미성년 자녀의 유무 변인이, 남자노인에게는 사교 및 모임활동에서 결혼지위 요인만이 배타적 영향력이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 공통적으로 관련된 요인으로는 교육, 건강, 취업, 종교 등의 요인인 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 본 분석에서 부모동거여부와 집의 소유여부 등은 여가활동과 유의한 관련성이 없는 것으로 분석되었다. 여기서 여가 참여율과 관련 요인의 성별 차이는 여가태도 변화와 성역할 차이의 관점에서 해석되었고, 본 논문의 마지막에서 복지적 실천 방법을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

For the elderly, leisure activities are welfare resources that help to maintain health and engagement with life. The paper investigates gender differences in rates and correlates of elderly leisure activities. The data are from nationally representative samples of the population aged 60 or more years. The multivariate logistic regression is used to analyze the differences. The level of overall leisure participation for females is about 23 percent higher than that of males. Gender differences in the correlates of leisure activity are found in the sample: Specifically for the females, having children variable is exclusively and significantly related to a leisure dependent variable, travel/going out, and for males marital status variable is exclusively and significantly related to a variable, socializing/get together. On the other end, the common factors of leisure activities appear to be education level, subjective health, employment status, religion variables. However, two variables, living together with parents and possessing my house appear not to be related to the leisure activity variables. In this paper, the findings, gender differences are discussed in terms of leisure attitude changes and gender role theory, and the leisure practices of welfare is suggested at the end of thesis.
