글로벌 서비스러닝 교과목의 효과성에 관한 기초연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 활발히 진행되고 있는 서비스러닝 기반 교수 학습 방법에 주목하고, 서비스러닝의 상호 호혜성 및 교육적 반성 요소에 주목하여 물 적정기술과 보건교육 전공분야를 융합, 개도국 해외봉사에 적용한 Preparation-Action-Reflection 모형 기반의 교과과정 실천사례연구이다. 본 연구의 목적은 캄보디아 Campong Speo지역 중학교 12개 학급을 대상으로 총 13박 15일 기간 자체개발하여 수행한 글로벌 Service Learning 프로그램을 살펴보고, 이러한 프로그램이 교육과정과 통합하여 적극적인 학습형태의 봉사학습인 서비스러닝교과목의 결과로써 참여자들에게 봉사 참여 동기와 역량에 긍정적인 변화가 있었는지, 봉사에 대한 인식에 전·후 차이가 있었는지를 검증하기 위해 프로그램의 효과를 양적으로 평가하였다. 사전·사후설문을 통하여 자료를 수집하여 해외봉사활동의 참여 동기 변화를 살펴본 결과, 봉사활동 이후 포괄적 지식획득과 활동지향 및 외재 동기가 강한 긍정의 방향으로 변화한 것을 볼 수 있었다. 또한, 참여자의 자아, 시민성, 공동사회성, 문제해결, 리더십, 갈등조절 및 대인관계의 7개 역량에 모두 긍정적인 반응이 증가하였고 t-검증(paired sample) 결과 갈등조절 및 대인관계 역량을 제외한 5개 역량의 경우 통계적으로 유의미 하게 향상한 것으로 나타났다. 봉사활동 참여자들은 타문화 수용, 공통체성, 도전과 열정, 봉사정신 함양 및 진로 결정성 도움여부에 대한 봉사 후 설문에도 매우 긍정적으로 응답하였으며, 영어에 대한 인식도 강한 긍정의 반응이 눈에 띄게 증가 하였다. 참여자들은 봉사학습의 경험이 향후 진로를 결정하는데 도움이 된다고 생각하였고, 향후 봉사활동 재참여의사 에도 강한 긍정의 의사를 보였다. 본 연구는 다른 해외봉사와는 차별화 된 ‘적정기술융합 보건교육’ 콘텐츠로 글로벌 서비스러닝교과목을 개설하고 봉사학습의 실제적인 프로그램을 개발하여 서비스러닝으로 구안하였으며, 그 효과와 성과를 거둘 수 있었던 차별화된 프로그램 전략들을 제시함으로서, 관련 분야 글로벌 봉사학습의 기초자료를 마련하고자 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of Global Service Learning Program in Cambodia as a new attempt and strategies for educational methodology that applied intentionally integrates as a Global Service Learning Course at the University. Based on Preparation–Action– Reflection, 3 stage process model, focusing on reciprocal and reflection component, “Appropriate Technology-Health Education” Global Service Learning Program was developed and implemented to 12 middle school classes in Kampong Speo, Cambodia, which has been applied to Global Service Learning 3-credit Course. To investigate the effectiveness, a survey was conducted with questionnaires through a pre-test and then, the Service Learning program was applied by 21 participant students, followed by a post-hoc test with the same and along with some additional questionnaires. Collected data were analyzed with SPSS 22.0. The results of the analyses are as follows: First, questionnaires on ‘motivation to participate oversea volunteering’ have all changed in a strong positive direction. Also, it was found that the Global Service Learning program had a positive effect on the improvement of students’ capacities, especially a statistically significant effect on ① self-efficacy, ②global citizenship, ③social acquaintance ④problem settlement, and ⑤leadership. Students were also positively changed in post-awareness of volunteering for ①cultural sensitivity, ②group membership, ③challenge and passion, and ④service spirit. The study aims to build a preliminary data for Global Service Learning Course using a service contents of “Appropriate Technology-Health Education.” Through the experience of this Global Service Learning Program, participants could build the capacities and also obtain a deeper understanding of the social issues in community services in developing countries, as well as self motivation about future career progress, English study and re-engagement of volunteer activities.
