음악활동을 통한 문화간 감수성의 발달

국문 초록

문화간 감수성은 나의 문화와 다른 문화를 이해하고 존중하여 상황에 맞는 행동을 할 수 있는 능력을 말한다. 문화간 감수성 발달을 위하여 본 연구자는 초등학교 3학년 학생 19명(남:9명, 여:10명)을 대상으로 문화간 음악활동 프로그램을 개발하고 실행연구를 실시하였다. 학생들이 다른 문화를 직접적으로 장기간 경험해본 적이 없다는 사전 결과를 바탕으로, 본 연구에서는 학생들이 흥미를 가지고 수업에 참여하여 문화간 감수성을 발달시킬 수 있는 음악활동을 선택하였다. 음악활동에는 다양한 활동들이 존재하였으나 학생들의 요구와 수준에 맞는 활동을 선정하여 프로그램을 개발하고 실천하였다. 음악활동을 위하여 아시아 5개국인 중국, 베트남, 일본, 필리핀, 인도네시아를 선정하였다. 음악활동의 내용은 국립민속박물관에서 제공하는 다문화 꾸러미 속 음악자료와 교육과정에서 다루고 있는 3학년 학생들 수준에 맞는 제재곡을 선정하여 구성하였다. 학생들이 다른 나라의 문화를 접하고 우리 문화와 비교해 보는 활동이 효과적일 수 있도록 나라별로 주제를 정하여 음악활동을 구성하였다. 1단원 ‘음악과 놀이’,2단원 ‘음악과 인형극, 음악과 명절’, 3단원 ‘음악과 기후’, 4단원 ‘음악의 소재’, 5단원 ‘음악극’을 주제로 수업을 실행하였다. 실행이 끝난 후 문제점을 보완하여 그 다음 실행에 반영하여 개선하였고, 이 과정을 수업 실행이 끝날 때 까지 반복하였다. 수업 실행 결과를 보건대, 학급 전체로는 부정, 방어 단계를 해결하고 최소화 과도기 단계로 진입하였고, 개인별로는 편차는 존재하지만 모든 학생이 긍정적으로 변화하였다. 앞으로 초등학생들의 서로 다른 발달단계에 맞는 문화간 감수성 함양 프로그램이 개발될 수 있도록 적극적인 연구가 진행되기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

Understanding differences as well as living along side other cultures demands intercultural sensitivity. Intercultural sensitivity is the ability to have an interest in other cultures by respecting the differences between that culture and your own. Thus, in order to develop intercultural sensitivity, the purposes of this study are to develop an intercultural musical activity program, and to conduct the research study on 19 third graders (male:9, female:10) to observe a change of intercultural sensitivity among them. Various activities were included within the musical activities, but the researcher selected activities corresponding with the learner’s level. Five countries in Asia were selected for the music activities for this study; China, Vietnam, Japan, Philippines, and Indonesia. The contents of music activities were composed of music materials from the multicultural package. This was provided by the National Folk Museum and were selected according to the third grade curriculum. The subjects showed their obvious improvement of their intercultural sensitivity through the qualitative results such as portfolio data, reflection, and quantitative result which is the pre-test and post-test. Overall, the class had moved to the ‘Minimization’ stage after the ‘Denial’ and ‘Defense’ stage. This is a positive development within them even though there were individual variations. My hope is that this research can open the scene to intercultural sensitivity at the elementary level and encourage others in actively researching and implementing programs in this area.
