영문 초록

cohol related problems are common in psychiatric field, but the concerns about alcohol induced neuropathy have been relatively lower than other alcohol related problems. We experienced a 25 year-old alcohol withdrawal delirium patient who had severe alcohol induced neuropathy complaining of severe pain on both extremities and not walking. He also had a abnormal electromyographic finding. Although his pain was not ameliorated by the typical usual analgesics such as amitriptyline & carbamazepine, adding mexiletine was remarkably effective for the pain without major side effects. The follow-up of electromyography was no change but patient’s pain was still reduced after 1 month. This case indicated that we psychiatrists should pay more attentions to alcohol induced neuropathy and the treatment of related pain in psychiatric backgrounds.
