영문 초록

Objectives：It is known that the incidence of eating disorder in alcohol dependent women is high. In order to find out differences in eating attitudes between alcohol dependent women and normal controls, we investigated clinical factors related to eating problems. Methods：By means of a DSM-Ⅳ, 41 alcohol dependent women and 124 non alcoholic control subjects were selected. we compared demographic variables and the Korean Eating Attitude Test-26 (KEAT-26) to evaluate the eating attitudes of both groups, and then we compared clinical factors related to eating attitudes, Korean-Beck Depression Inventory (K-BDI), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and Barret Impulsivity Scale scores in the alcoholic patient group. we designated a cutoff score of nineteen or above for the KEAT-26 so that the presence of dysfunctional eating attitudes could be detected and evaluated. Results：The alcohol dependent women showed statistically significant higher mean scores on the KEAT-26 than the control group. In addition, the percentage of alcohol dependent women (14.6%) was higher than the control group (2.4%). The mean ages of alcohol dependent women who have dysfunctional eating attitudes were higher than those ones who have not. There were no significant differences in anxiety, depression and impulsivity between the dysfunctional eating attitude group and the non dysfunctional eating attitude group. Conclusion：It is necessary to evaluate the possibility of the presence of dysfunctional eating attitudes in alcohol dependent women.
