칼빈의 이사야 주석에 나타난 종에 관한 해석 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 이사야 40-66장에 나타난 종에 관한 본문에 대한 칼빈의 주석을 구체적으로 살피고 이를 통해 개혁주의 성경 해석을 위한 몇몇의 함의 점들을 논하는데 있다. 둠(Duhm)의 이사야서 주석 이후 이사야서에 나타난 종 의 정체성에 관한 논의는 수많은 학문적 논의가 있어왔고 아직도 진행 중이다. 이사야서 41장에 나타난 종을 해석할 때 칼빈은 종을 교회의 성도들과 관련시키고(고전 6:11; 엡 5:8), 42:1-4에 소개된 종은 예수 그리스도의 성품과 사역과 관련시켜 해석한다. 또한 이사야 43:10의 증인으로서의 종에 대한 의미를 해석할 때에는 본문 안에서 종의 사명에 초점을 맞추면서 신약의 교회와 관련하여 이해한다. 이사야 49에 나타나는 수수께끼와 같은 종에 관한 해석에서 칼빈은 종인 이스라엘을 집합적 인격체로 보았고 이를 유비적으로 그리스도와 그 안에 있는 전 교회의 집합체로 해석하였다. 50장의 종을 후에 나오는 모든 종을 대표하는 이사야 선지자로 간주한다. 52:13-53:12의 고난의 종에 대해서는 일관성 있게 그리스도와 연결시킨다. 63:15-19에서 탄식하는 종들을 언약의 맥락 안에서 해석하면서 아브라함, 이삭, 야곱과 같은 족장들로 해석 한다. 이사야 40-66장에 나타난 종에 관한 칼빈의 해석은 성경해석을 위한 여러 함의점들을 제공한다. 첫째, 구약과 신약 성경 전체를 해석의 대상으로 삼아 신학적 차원으로 연결시킨다. 둘째, 구약 본문의 문맥에 주의를 기울이면 서도 신약과 그리스도의 나라에서 성취되는 모형론적 패턴을 사용하고 있다. 마지막으로 그의 해석은 삼위일체적 해석이며 교회론적 상관성 가운데 해석 한다.

영문 초록

This study aims to investigate the servant passage of Isaiah 40-66 in Calvin’s commentary and discuss the hermeneutic implications for the Reformed Biblical Interpretation. Since the publication of Duhm’s commentary of Isaiah, there have been many scholarly discussions on the identity of the servant in the book of Isaiah. When Calvin interpreted the servant in Isaiah 41 and 42:1-4, he connected the former with church and its saints (Isa 41:8; 1 Cor 6:11; Eph 5:8), and the latter with Christ’s character and his ministry. He also viewed the mission of the servant as witness of God’s redemption in Isaiah 43:10 as that of the church in the NT. In his reading of the enigmatic servant Israel in Isaiah 49, Calvin suggested him as the corporate personality of Christ and his church analogically. He also consistently applied the suffering servant in 52:13-53:12 to Christ. While interpreting the lamenting servants in 63:15-19 in the context of the covenant, he viewed them as Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Calvin’s interpretation of the servant in his commentary provides some implications for us. First, we should connects the OT with the NT from the theological perspective (Tota Scriptura). Second, we need to attend to the OT text and utilize the typological pattern of it which ultimately fulfilled in Christ and his kingdom. Lastly, we need to have trinitarian understanding of the text and its relationship with the church.
