노인 우울 관련 변인과 조절효과에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 연령집단에 따른 노인 우울 수준의 차이와 노인 우울에 대한 연령과 스트레스 대처유형의 직접 및 조절효과를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 C도 4곳의 노인복지관을 통해 간단한 인지력 검사(the Short Portable Mental Status Questionnaire)를 거쳐 8점 이상의 점수를 획득한 노인들을 대상으로 5명의 훈련된 사회복지사들이 구조화된 설문지를 사용하여 면접조사 하였다. 최종분석에는 247명의 응답 자료를 활용하였으며, 일원변량분석, 위계적 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 주요결과들은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 일원변량 분석결과, 연령집단에 따라 노인 우울수준은 차이가 있었으나, 스트레스 대처유형(적극적 대처유형과 정서중심 대처유형)은 연령집단에 따라 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 둘째, 인구사회학적 변수들을 통제하고 위계적 중다회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 적극적 대처유형은 노인 우울을 감소시키는 통계적으로 유의한 직접효과를 보였던 반면 연령과 정서중심 대처유형의 독립적 영향은 확인할 수 없었다. 또한 연령과 대처유형의 조절효과를 검토한 결과 연령과 적극적 대처유형의 상호작용 효과는 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 조사되었으나 연령과 정서중심 대처유형의 상호작용 효과는 통계적으로 유의하게 나타나지 않았다. 연구결과를 토대로 노인 우울 수준을 경감할 수 있는 실천방안들이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the differences in the levels of elders depression by age groups, and the direct and interaction effects of age groups and stress coping strategies on the elders depression. For the purposes of this study, five trained social workers from four senior welfare centers in C province interviewed elderly members who scored over eight the Short Portable Mental Status Questionnaire, using a structured questionnaire. Two hundred forty seven subjects answered questionnaires and their answers were used for the final analysis including one-way ANOVA, and hierarchical multiple regression. The following are the major results of the study. First, there was a significant difference in the levels of elders depression by age groups in the one-way ANOVA, meanwhile the levels of the stress coping strategies (active coping strategies and emotion focused coping strategies) were not statistically different by age groups. Second, controlling for the relevant socio-demographic variables, active coping strategies directly affect the levels of elders depression in hierarchical multiple regression analysis. On the other hand, age and emotion focused coping strategies did not directly affect the levels of elders depression. Moreover, the interaction effects of age and active coping strategies on the levels of elders’ depression was found to be significant, but the interaction effects of age and emotion focused coping strategies was not found to be significant in the results of the interaction effect analysis of age and coping strategies. Based on the results of this study, theoretical and practical implications were discussed.
