노인부양에 영향을 미치는 가구특성 비교

국문 초록

본 연구는 가족동거노인가구와 노인단독가구의 차이점, 그리고 수발대상노인에 대한 가족수 발가구와 비가족수발가구의 차이를 파악하고 이에 영향을 미치는 요인을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 이를 위해 2008년 서울시 복지패널조사 자료를 활용하여 65세 이상 노인 개인을 분석대상으로 삼은 분석과 65세 이상 노인을 포함한 가구를 분석대상으로 2차 분석하였다. 분석방법은 카이제곱 검증과 이항로짓분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 노인부양가족의 경우에는 사별한 여성 노인을 모시고 있는 경우가 높게 나타났고, 노인가구인 경우에는 노인부부로 이루어져 있는 경우가 높게 나타났다. 수발이 필요한 노인의 경우 대부분 가족이 수발하고 있음을 알 수 있었으며 가족이 수발하는 경우 다른 인력이 수발하는 경우보다 수발부담이 훨씬 높게 나타났다. 가족수발에 영향을 미치는 가구특성을 살펴보면, 가구원 수가 많은 경우, 가구소득이 낮은 경우, 수발부담이 높은 경우 동거가족이 수발하는 것으로 나타났으며, 가구주가 취업한 경우, 가구주가 장애인인 경우, 여성노인인 경우, 연령이 높을수록 비동거가족이 수발하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 대표성 있는 데이터를 사용했다는 점과 정책적으로 개입이 필요할 수 있는 가구형태에 초점을 맞추어 노인동거가구 및 수발가구에 필요한 기초자료로 활용할 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다고 하겠다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to determine potential differences between senior citizen households living with their families and elderly households (single or couple), and differences between senior citizen households with family and non-family caregiving, so that one could successfully make an empirical analysis on potential factors affecting such differences. In order to meet the goal, this study used reference data from Seoul Metropolitan Welfare Panel Survey of 2008 and thereby made a primary analysis on each of senior citizen at age 65 and over along with a secondary analysis on households which are living senior citizen at age 65 and over. For data analysis, this study adopted chi-square test and binary logit analysis. Consequently, it was found that a relatively high rate of senior citizen households living with their families served and supported elderly widows, and relatively high rate of elderly house-holds consisted of elderly couples. It was found that most of elderly people who need support relied upon their family. Family caregiving households had to shoulder a greater caregiving burden than non-family caregiving households. According to an analysis on household charac-teristics affecting family caregiving, it was found that families had a high tendency to provide care and support for their senior parents when they had a large number of family members, low household income and high caregiving burden. When the household owners were employed or disable, and their parents were much advanced in age, non-family members had a high tendency to provide care and support for senior citizen. Conclusively, this study has its own significance in that it uses representative data on statistical basis; focuses on household types requiring governmental intervention via policy; and provides useful reference data for family caregiving households or non-family caregiving households.
