국문 초록

본 연구는 한국경제의 발전과정과 한국농업의 변천과정을 연구하여 한국경제의 발전 과정에서 한국농업의 역할을 재조명해 보는 연구이다. 본 논문이 연구대상으로 하고 있는 농업분야는 경쟁력만으로는 설명할 수 없는 중요하고 절대적인 산업이다. 2007년 글로벌 식량위기 이후로 식량안보에 대한 중요성이 커 지고 있고 WTO/DDA 협상 및 FTA 협상으로 우리나라 농산물 시장개방이 본격화 되고 있는 상황에서 농산물 수출에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있는 시점이다. 본 연구에서는 한국농업이 한국경제 발전과정에서의 역할을 통해 한국농업의 발전방안을 모색해봤다.

영문 초록

This study is about the review of the role of Korea agriculture in Korea economic development by the study of the Korea’s economy and agriculture. Korea has walked on the path of modernization and industrialization in the past 60 years, and it has grown to become an economic power that ranks around 10th in the world. The reduction in he relative weight of agriculture resulting from economic advancement is a common experience among the advance countries. Korea had experienced changes in its industrial structure at a speed that had been two to five times quicker than those of the advanced countries. The Korea economy is often said to be on the level of advanced countries, but the agriculture is said to be on the level of developing countries. The roles of agriculture in the Korean economy can be summarized and outlined as follows: First, agriculture plays the role of producing and supplying food. Second, agriculture contributes to the development of other industries. Third, agriculture plays the role of preserving the natural environment and the national territory. Agriculture is basically an environment-friendly industry. Fourth, agriculture promotes the preservation of genetic resources. Fifth, agriculture promotes the stability of the society and he economy. Food is an indispensable element for humans to live. Therefore the decline of agriculture soon brings about the decline of related industries and thus makes the nation’s economic and social life unstable. The natural scenery, which provides rest to citizens, can only be maintained through the continued existence of agriculture.
