국문 초록

본 논문은 도덕감각과 도덕감정의 차이점을 부각시키고 새로운 도덕원칙의 필요성을 주장하는데 초점을 맞추었다. 아담 스미스는 직관에 기초한 도덕감각을, 밀은 경험에 기초한 도덕감정을 주장하고 있기 때문에서로 다른 도덕론을 제시하고 있다. 그러나 현대 경제학은 밀의 도덕감정에 기초한 공리주의를 경제학의 유일한 도덕원칙으로 취급하는 경향이있다. 행복과 풍요의 극대화를 추구하는 밀의 공리주의는 자본주의 사회를 발전시키는데 기여했지만 인간성의 타락을 초래하는 이면이 있다. 인 간성을 회복시키기 위해서 밀의 도덕원칙은 아담 스미스의 도덕원칙으로 보완되어야 한다. 아담 스미스에 따르면 도덕성은 절대자와의 관계 속에서 형성된다. 도덕감각은 절대자의 의지를 느끼고 실현하게 한다. 인간은능력이 아니라 존재 자체로 그가치를 평가받아야 하는 것이다. 직관적도덕감각에 기초한 경제행위는 창의적 지각능력을 향상 시킬 수 있다.

영문 초록

This paper focuses on the difference between the moral sentiments and moral feelings, and puts emphasis on the need for a new moral principles. Adam Smith and Mill have different perspective on moral principle. Adam smith argues moral principles based on intuition and in other hand, Mill argues moral principles based on experience. Modern economics tends to deal with utilitarian morality, where moral feelings judge morality according to happiness assured by material abundance. Utilitarianism contributes to the development of capitalist society with abundant material, but this behavior caused corruption of human nature. In order to restore humanity, moral principle should be complemented by the moral sentiments of Adam Smith. According to Adam Smith, morality is formed in relation to God. Moral faculty founded upon moral sentiments tends to improve the dignity of man. Economic behavior based on moral sentiments drives the society in more creative way.
