영문 초록

This study was done to analyze theses dealing with health promotion of Korean elderly in order to provide the necessary information needed to establish a program based on the needs of elderly. The study was based on theses that were published until November 2006, focusing on research methods, main variables, intervention methods and its effects of experimental studies. Theses published in Korea regarding the health promotion of the elderly had the following variables: psychological/ sociological, cognitive/perceptive, and physical/physiological. The subjects of the studies were mainly home-staying elderly people. In experimental studies, their interventions were health education, exercise and counseling. After intervention, there were reported that health concepts, self-esteem, health behavior, physical stamina, physiological indexes, quality of life were positively increased. The level of self-efficacy, depression, and anxiety differed depending on the studies. Studies have revealed the need for experimental studies apply on the variables that would enhance the health of elderly in order to establish a program. This requires an objective tool for the measurement The policies to enhance the health of the elderly should take social, environmental factors that influence health and integrate them. This requires interdisciplinary cooperation of various different fields of academia.
