영문 초록

This paper discusses military diplomacy between middle powers and the UAE. Specifically, eight countries which have been trading with the UAE are selected as middle powers. The purpose of this paper is to find out the effectiveness of military diplomacy among middle powers with the UAE. An economic trade index is the dependent variable, and VIP visits, arms exports to the UAE, officer exchanges for defense education programs, unit stationing, and combined training are the independent variables. There are four independent variables which have meaningful impacts on the dependent variable. However, among them, officer exchanges for defense education programs and combined training have a significant impact on economic trading. Therefore, as a middle power country, the Korean Ministry of Defense should focus more acutely on these two variables for military diplomacy in the future.
