국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 선행연구와 경찰청 내부자료를 바탕으로 시민경찰학교의 문제점을 확인하고 이를 해결하고자 개선방안을 제시하여 시민경찰학교를 활성화하는 것이다. 시민경찰학교의 문제점은 홍보활동의 미흡, 교육프로그램의 고착화, 예산 부족, 일방통행식 교육, 사후관리 미흡 등이며, 이 같은 문제점을 토대로 한시민경찰학교의 개선방안은 홍보활동의 다양화, 맞춤형 교육프로그램 개발, 예산 증액, 사회적 약자와 젊은 층 위주의 교육대상자 선정, 교육수료생 사후관리 철저, 인센티브 확대, 찾아가는 시민경찰학교 확대 운영을 제시하고자 한다. 이와 같이 시민경찰학교의 문제점들에 대해 일정 부분 개선이 이루어 질 경우 지역사회 경찰활동의 실천적 프로그램으로서 그 중요성이 날로 증대되고 있는 시민경찰 학교는 활성화 될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aims at confirming problems of citizen police academy based on precedent researches and internal datum of National Police Agency, and activating citizen police academy by proposing improvement so as to solve them. Problems of citizen police academy include lack of PR activities, fixation of educational programs, budget deficit, one-way education, and insufficient follow-up management, and this study tries to suggest a proposition about diversification of PR activities, evelopment of customized educational programs, budget increase, selection of educational objects focussing on the socially disadvantaged and the young, through follow-up management on persons who completed education, expansion of incentives, enlarging operations of visiting citizen police academy as improvement on the academy based on such problems. If some improvement on problems of citizen police academy in this way is made, citizen police academy whose importance is being grown day by day could be revitalized as a practical program of community police activities.
