중국인 유학생 학업중단의도 척도 개발 및 타당화

국문 초록

최근 우리나라 대학으로 유학 오는 중국인 학생의 수가 급중하는 동시에 학업중단의 비율이 함께 상승하면서, 중국인 유학생의 학업중단을 방지하기 위한 대책 마련이 중요한 과제로 제기되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 중국인 유학생의 학업중단을 사전에 예방하기 위한 방안으로 학업중단의도를 정확히 진단하고 파악하기 위한 척도를 개발하고자 한다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 중국인 유학생 학업중단의도의 구인을 탐색하고 척도를 개발하려는 것이다. 선행연구 분석과 중국인 유학생들 대상의 개방형 설문조사를 통하여 중국인 유학생들이 경험하게 되는 학업중단의도의 구성 요인들을 추출하였다. 이를 기초로 전국 28개 대학의 중국인 유학생 210명을 대상으로 질문지를 실시하였고, 최종 205부의 응답결과를 분석에 활용하였다. 설문조사에서는 문항반응이론에 기반한 라쉬모형을 적용하여 문항적합도와 응답척도의 적합성을 검증하였다. 또한 탐색적 요인분석을 실시하여 최종 4개 요인으로 구성되는 척도를 작성하였다. 개발된 척도의 타당화를 위해 응답자들이 자가진단한 학업중단의도 수준과 실제 측정해본 점수의 상관을 구해본 결과, 상관계수가 .767 수준으로 높게 나타났으며, 척도의 신뢰도 지수도 .830으로 높게 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study aims to develop the scale of dropout intention for Chinese students studying in Korean universities. First, an open-ended question, asking “what are the reasons for your dropout intention?” was given to Chinese students and 4 factors were selected for the construct of Chinese students’ dropout intention: interactions with professors, family assistance, adaptation to Korean life, and academic achievement. A questionnaire consisting of 29 items for the 4 factors was administered to 205 Chinese students in 28 universities. After developing the questionnaire of Chinese students’ dropout intention, the item fit analysis detected 3 items as misfitting items for measuring Chinese students’ dropout intention and the items were deleted. Item response category curves were examined to assure the appropriateness of 5 point response scale. In addition, an exploratory factor analysis was made to decide the factors of the scale. Finally the scale of Chinese students’ dropout intention was developed with 16 items for 4 factors. The final scale was validated by the correlations between the scores of the scale and the level of their dropout intention which self-reported by Chinese students. The correlation analysis proved that the scale was valid for measuring Chinese students’ dropout intention. Also, cronbach-α showed the scale was reliable. Accordingly, the scale of Chinese students’ dropout intention which developed in this study can be used to check Chinese students’ dropout intention and help to prevent their dropout.
