영문 초록

A patient of malignant schwannoma at the age of 62 visited the department of oral & maxillnfacial surgery, Seoul National University Hospital, and was treated by radical excision (right subtotal maxillectomy) & radiation. The prognosis of this patient seems to be good and we can get following results. 1. In this case, the lesion occupied the right midface involving maxillary sinus with destruction of surrounding bone. 2. Histopathologically, malignant schwannoma was the final diagnosis, however, the cell patterns of resembling benign neurilemmoma were appeared. 3. Clinically, the tumor mass was encapsulated. 4. There were few malignant schwannoma reported literally. Especially, malignant schwannoma with cell patterns of benign neurilemmoma was extremely rare. 5. Malignant schwannoma has been treated with wide resection and radiation and it seems to be effective. 6. We could approach the tumor mass via Weber-Fergusson incision.
