영문 초록

Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor is a distinctive and rare neoplasm which has characteristics of polyhedral epithelial cells, calcified bodies, and amyloid-like materials. The authors had seen and treated a case of calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (Pindborg tumor) occurred in the maxillary right posterior portion of 33 year-old female. The results are as follows. 1. The lesion resembled adenoameloblastoma, calcifying odontogenic cyst, and fibromyxoma by clinical and roentgenographic findings. 2. Unerupted tooth and surrounding calcified hard mass were detected in the tumor. 3. Operative method was selected to perform conservative surgical excision and primary closure. 4. The lesion developed intraosseously, maxillary sinus was intact and not continuous with the lesion by protection of thin epithelial wall. 5. New bone formation without fistula and recurrence had been noticed for 1 year after operation. 6. Microscopic examination revealed typical patterns of Pindborg tumor. Calcified foci, homogeneous amyloid substance and polyhedral epithelial cells were well identified.
