영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the etiologic factors on the relapse after orthognathic surgery. This study was based on the 13 patients with mandibular prognathism who had a surgical retrusive movement of the mandible at the Dept. of Oral Surgery, College of Dentistry, Yonsei University. We have taken serial cephalogram; before surgery (Ⅰ), immediately after surgery (Ⅱ), and from six months to one year after surgery (Ⅲ). A multiple regression analysis was used to determine relationships between the changes during sugery (Ⅱ-Ⅰ) and relapse after surgery (Ⅲ-Ⅱ). The results were obtained as follows, 1. There were positive correlation between horizontal movements of Pogonion and horizontal relapse of that. (ϓ=0.62648, p ＜ 0.05) 2. There were positive correlation between horizontal movements and horizontal relapse of pogonion except horizontal relapse by rotation of mandibular plane. (ϓ=0.67221, p＜0.05) 3. Horizontal relapse was beginning to see when the amounts of retrusive movement were about 7 ㎜. 4. There were reverse correlation between changes of mandibular plane angle and relapse of that. (ϓ=-0.79938, p＜0.05)
