영문 초록

Sixteen cases of surgical retrusive movement of the mandible were evaluated by retrospective cephalmetric analysis for positional changes of the skeleton and teeth during intermaxillary fixation. The purpose of the study is two fold: 1. to evaluate the amount and direction of skeletal and dental changes that occur during intermaxillary fixation. 2. to analyze the relationships between the changes of skeleton and teeth during operation and the changes of that during intermaxillary fixation. Positional changes of the skeleton and teeth appeared to be a multifactorial biologic phenomenon with considerable individual variability. The results were obtained as follows : 1. In all patients, the entire variables showed the positional changes of skeleton and teeth, vertically and horizontally, during intermaxillary fixation. 2. There were reverse correlation (r=-0.58) between the vertical changes at Me. during operation and the angular changes of 1 to SN line during intermaxillary fixation, which was significant at 0.05 level.
