국문 초록

본 논문은 전사적 품질경영(TQM)과 기술경영 사이의 공부합성(Co-alignment)을 분석함으로써 품질 및 혁신의 측면에서 조직의 성과를 예측하기 위한 실증적 연구이며, 다음과 같은 두 가지 연구 목적을 기반으로 품질과 혁신 사이의 관계를 규명한다. 첫째, 본 연구는 각각 별개의 제분야로 인식되고 있는 TQM과 기술경영에 대하여 공부합성을 제시함으로써 두 제분야 사이의 학문적 그리고 실무적 간극을 좁힌다. 둘째, 본 연구는 TQM과 기술경영 사이의 조합이 조직 경쟁우위의 주요 원천인 품질 및 혁신에 미치는 영향력을 분석한다. 이를 위하여 무작위적으로 추출된 제조업체들로부터 설문응답 자료를 수집하였으며 이를 구조방정식모형을 통해 검증하였다. 이에 따라 첫째, TQM이 품질 성과에 대하여 유의적인 영향력을 지니는 것으로 나타난 반면 TQM과 혁신 성과 사이에는 유의적인 관계가 발견되지 않았다. 둘째, 기술경영 역시 품질 성과에 대하여 유의적인 관계를 지니지만, 이는 TQM과 품질 성과 사이의 관계보다 낮은 수준이며, 오히려 기술경영의 혁신 성과에 대한 영향력이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, TQM과 기술경영 사이에 매우 높은 유의적인 양(+)의 상관관계가 있음이 밝혀졌다. 이로부터 본 연구는 TQM과 기술경영의 조합이 조직의 성과, 특히 혁신 성과의 원천이 될 수 있음을 보여준다.

영문 초록

This study is to examine the co-alignment between Total Quality Management and Technology Management to predict its effects on quality performance and innovation performance in operations management. Classical literature in operations management posits that in order to achieve highly quality performance in one of the competitive capabilities, firms need to trade off for lowly innovation performance in others. However, competitive progression theory posits that firms can achieve high performance in more than one capability simultaneously. Therefore, this paper is to discuss the co-alignment between Total Quality Management and Technology Management by bridging the gap between the two areas which are often addressed in a separate way. And then this paper also examines the impact of the integration between Total Quality Management and Technology Management on organizational performance in terms of quality and innovation which have been considered as the primary sources of a competitive advantage in operations management. As a result, the combination of Total Quality Management with Technology Management is posited to enhance innovation performance.
