음악적 시간의 창조성

국문 초록

인간의 체험 시간은 동일 간격으로 계량되어 추상화된 규칙적인 표준 시간이 아니다. 음악적 시간은 인간의 의식적·무의식적 정서와 직관, 예술적 해석능력, 교육적 배경, 심리 상태와 신체적 감각, 문학적 상상력, 인지 경험과 연상작용 등 무수한 요인들의 상호작용에 의해 실제적으로 체험된 질적·상대적 시간이다. 음악가는 이러한 음악적 시간을 통해 일상의 시간을 초월하고자 하는 역설의 예술세계를 창조한다. 본 연구는 체험된 시간으로서 음악적 시간의 창조적 특성을 고찰하고자 시조시를 가사로 취하는 한국 전통 성악곡 가곡, 시조, 민요(노랫가락)의 음악적 시간을 분석하였다. 악보에 의존하는 기존의 문헌 중심 연구방식에서 벗어나 실제로 연주된 음원을 토대로 하였고, 시간을 공간화하는 그래프 수식을 통해 시간의 연속적 흐름을 2차원 평면으로 전환하여 음악적 시간의 구조적 특성을 시각적으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 가곡에서는 균형 잡힌 조화와 비례의 시간성을, 시조에서는 극단적인 대비와 단절의 파격적인 시간성을, 노랫가락에서는 안정적인 3분절의 아치형 시간 구도를 한 눈에 파악할 수 있었다. 정간에 기보된 규칙적인 표준 시간과 달리 전통 성악의 명인들은 한국의 독특한 노래 형식이 지닌 자연스러운 시간의 결을 살려내고자 일상의 세속적인 균질적 시간을 넘어서는 예술적 초월의 시간성을 이끌어냈다. 시조시의 문학적 정서와 노래 형식이 지닌 구조적인 시간 미학이 예술가의 창조적인 해석을 통해 시가(詩歌)라는 전통적 예술양식 안에 하나로 결합되어 있었다.

영문 초록

Human’s experience time is not a regular standard time, measured by identical spans and abstractionized. Musical time is a qualitative and relative time concretely experienced through countless interactions, such as conscious or unconscious emotion and intuition, artistic ability to interpret, educational background, psychological condition, physical sense, literary imagination, cognitive experience, process of association, etc. Musician creates an artistic world of paradox to transcend an ordinary time through such a musical time. This paper analyzes musical time of Korean traditional songs Gogok, Sijo and Minyo (Noraegarak), whose lyrics are all Sijo poem, to investigate the creative features of musical time as an experienced time. This study is based on the recorded sound source actually performed, deviating from the existing document-centered methodology depending on music score. In particular, this paper optically parses the constructive features of musical time, switching over from the continual flow of time to two-dimensional space by a graphic formula for spacialization of time. As a result of the research, Gagok implies a musical time of symmetric harmony and proportion, Sijo reveals a distinctive musical time of extreme contrast and severance, and Noraegarak has an arch-shaped structure divided into stable three parts. The masters of Korean traditional songs elicited a musical time of artistic transcendence, different from a regular standard time notated in Junggan, beyond a secularly homogenized time to express the natural Gyeol (texture) of time inherent in distinctive forms of Korean traditional songs. The literary emotion of Sijo poem and the temporal aesthetics in musical structures are harmoniously unified in Korean traditional artistic style called Siga (詩歌) through the creative interpretation by artists.
