한국의집 전통예술공연의 가치와 미래 전략 연구

국문 초록

1981년 한국의집 전통예술공연(Traditional Art Performance)의 개막으로 인해 무형문화재 전승자 및 전통예술인이 공연에 출연할 수 있는 기회와 공간이 확보되었다. 또한 연중 상설공연을 통해 공연관광의 입지구축에 기여하였으며, 외국인은 물론 내국인에게도 개방되어 공연의 향유 기회를 확대하였다. 전통예술공연은 전통예술콘텐츠를 활용한 PMC프로덕션의 ‘난타(1997)’, 예감의 ‘점프(2003)’, 페르소나의 ‘비밥(2008)’, 정동극장의 ‘미소(2008)’, 해라의 ‘판타스틱(2009)’, 삼청각의 ‘자미(2010)’ 등 공연관광 작품의 탄생과 성장 기반 조성에 선구적인 역할을 하였다. 그러므로 한국의집 전통예술공연은 ‘대한민국 전통예술계 최초 공연관광 상설작품’이라는 점과 ‘옴니버스 형태의 전통 가무악상설공연’을 유지하고 있다는 점에서 높은 가치를 부여받고 있다. 한국의집 전통예술공연의 가치 전승 및 발전을 위한 미래 전략은 문화공공성 강화이다. 이를 통해 전통예술공연의 양·질적 향상은 물론 많은 관람객이 공연을 관람할 수 있는 기회를 제공받는다. 전통예술을 향유한 인간은 미적 감수성을 일깨우고, 창의성과 독창성을 성장시켜 문화적 인간으로 구성된 창조적 사회를 구현할 수 있다. 또한 문화공공성을 강화하는 것은 국민의 행복, 국가의 위상, 실질적 이점을 주는 관광자원에 투자하는 것이다. 한국의집 전통예술공연이 문화공공성을 강화하기 위한 방안은 ‘정부기관의 운영지원금 확보’를 통해 관광객의 접근성을 높이는 것, ‘아웃리치(Outreach) 프로그램의 활성화’로 문화소외지역이나 대상에게 문화향유 기회를 폭넓게 제공하는 것, ‘한국문화재재단예술단의 조직 재정비’를 통해 창의적인 공연기획과 전통예술의 발전에 기여하는 것 등이 있다.

영문 초록

Ever since its foundation in 1981, Traditional Art Performance by KOREA HOUSE has provided opportunities and spaces for intangible cultural assets and traditional art performances. Furthermore, it has helped establish performing arts tourism by holding regular performances that are open to foreign visitors and Korean citizens alike, broadening their opportunities to enjoy the traditional arts. Traditional Art Performance acted as a pioneer in the industry, giving birth to ‘Nanta’ (1997) by PMC Productions, ‘Jump’ (2003) by Yegam, ‘Bibap’ (2008) by Persona, ‘Miso’ (2008) by Jeongdong Theater, ‘Fanta-stick’ (2009) by Haera, and ‘Jami’ (2010) by Samcheonggak. As such, Traditional Art Performance of KOREA HOUSE has been praised for presenting and preserving the ‘first regular traditional arts performance for performing arts tourism’ and a ‘regular traditional singing, dancing, and music performance in an omnibus format.’ To ensure that its values continue to be passed down and developed, the future strategy of KOREA HOUSE aims to reinforce the cultural public role of Traditional Art Performance, improve the quality and quantity of its productions, and expand its audience. People who enjoy traditional arts will be given opportunities to awaken their artistic sensibility and develop their creativity and originality, with the aim of establishing a creative society of cultured people. Furthermore, the strengthening of the cultural public role of Traditional Art Performance means investment in performing arts tourism, which will lead to practical benefits such as greater public happiness while raising the status of Korea. The comprehensive improvement of public access will be achieved by securing government funding, providing opportunities to enjoy traditional arts to alienated social groups or remote areas under the ‘Outreach’ program, and contributing to creative traditional arts performances and the development of traditional arts itself by reorganizing Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation Performing Arts Company, which are the main methods of reinforcing the cultural public role of Traditional Art Performance.
