이덕형과 안원의 실천적 삶의 동인과 교육적 의미

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 이덕형과 안원의 실천적 삶의 동인과 교육적 의미를 알아보았다. 이를 위해 이들의 시대상황, 생활, 교육의 측면에서 실천적 삶을 비교해 보았다. 이를 기초로 정명(正名)을 기초로 한 실천적 삶과 교육적 의미를 알아보았다. 본 연구를 통해 첫째, 이덕형과 안원에 대한 연구의 확산, 둘째, 실천의 교육적 가치 강조, 셋째, 정명론의 교육적 활용에 기여하게 되기를 희망한다. 이덕형은 행정가로서 자신이 배운 것을 근거로 실천하여 한반도에서 일본의 침략을 물리치고 조선의 평화를 찾는데 기여하였다. 안원은 교육과 실천적 행위를 통하여, 실천을 강조하면서 당시 사회의 문제점을 비판하며 개혁과 변화의 불씨를 후대에 남겼다. 이덕형과 안원의 삶은 실천의 드러남에서 다를 수밖에 없지만, 이들은 자신의 처지와 상황에서 실천적 사상으로 임하였다. 특히 이덕형과 안원의 사상은 공자의 가르침에 토대를 두고 있기에 각자의 위치에서 이름값을 하라는 정명론은 이들의 실천적 삶에 기초가 된다고 할 수 있다. 그래서 이덕형은 난세에 행정가의 위치에서 실천적 삶에 충실하였고, 안원은 교육가의 위치에서 실천적 삶을 중시할 수 있었다. 그리고 이러한 이들의 실천의 삶은 한국과 중국에서 교육적으로 지금까지 영향을 미치고 있다. 본고에서는 이러한 고찰을 통하여, 정명과 실천의 가치를 온고지신하고자 하였다. 시대와 상황과 지역이 다른 곳의 인물이지만, 각자의 위치에서 맡은바 임무를 충실히 해내는 것, 그리고 이러한 행동의 토대로서 정명론은 바로 여기 오늘을 살고 있는 많은 지도층과 학생들에게 교육적으로 의미가 있다고 생각한다.

영문 초록

This study is aimed at comparing Lee Deok-hyeong(李德馨, 1561-1613) and Yan Yuan(顔元, 1635-1704)who lived in the different regions, age and the way of life. The main reason to compare the two figures in this article are to remind the meanings of Zheng Ming(Rectification of Names, 正名) and practice today through comparing the two persons who have many points of the commons though apparently different. In this article, their thoughts are attempted to compare in three aspects in order to identify their strengths and ideas. In other words, historical background and practical action, a review of the educational aspects. Based on this, Living as a Praxis based on Zheng Ming is illuminated. Lee Deok-hyeong based on things he learned as administrators, properly practiced the role of administrator, a political administrator, a diplomat protecting physical aggression of Japan from the Korean peninsula and contributed to finding peace in Korea. Emphasizing the practice through education and practical actions and criticizing the social problems at that time, Yan Yuan left the embers of reform and change to future generations. The Life of Lee Deok-hyeong and Yan Yuan was different. The Life of Lee Deok-hyeong and Yan Yuan looks different in surface but common in inner area. In other words, though Lee Deok-hyeong protected National Crisis as a prime minister and Yan Yuan experienced National Crisis as a educator differently, they faced the war at practical attitudes in commons from their plight and circumstances. Especially Rectification of names by Kongzi is the basis of the commons in living as a praxis of the two forerunner. Through Rectification of names by Kongzi Lee Deok-hyeong was so faithful to the practical life at the location of the administrators, and Yan Yuan could focus on the practical life at the location of the educator. In this paper, through this study, ultimately, Reviewing the Old and Learning the New(溫故知新) is pursued on the value of Zheng Ming and practice in our lives here and now. Though they lived in different places and times, they faithfully executed their duties in their respective positions on the Zheng Ming ideas of Confucius as a basis for these actions, which should be considered and treasured as practice virtue to be done by the many leaders who live right here today.
