국문 초록

재일조선인 작가 김달수는 지금까지 해방 후 ‘재일조선인 문학의 효시(嚆矢)’로 알려져 왔다. 최근 연구에서는, 이러한 그에 대한 평가가 그가 ‘일본어’로 작품을 써 왔기 때문에 가능했으며, 그러한 평가가 조선어 창작과 일본어 창작을 병행하거나 혹은 조선어 창작을 해온 ‘그외 다수’의 재일조선인 작가들을 ‘재일조선인 문학’으로부터 후경화 또는 보이지 않게 했다고 지적했다. 이처럼, ‘재일조선인 문학’에 있어서 김달수는 결코 ‘대표’가 아닌 ‘특이’한 존재이다. 그러나 그가 ‘특이’한 존재라는 것이 재일조선인 사회에 있어서 어떤 의미를 가지는지, 그리고 왜 그가 해방 직후 ‘일본어창작’을 주장하게 됐는지에 관해서는 좀 더 살펴볼 필요가 있다. ‘국어=조선어’의 회복이 자명한 명제였던 해방 직후에 유일하게 ‘일본어 창작’의 필요성을 주장했던 사람이 김달수였기 때문이다. 본고에서는 해방 직후 김달수가 주장하는 ‘일본어 창작론’의 내재적 이해를 위해, ‘일본어 창작’의 전제가 되는 언어 ‘일본어’에 주목하여 해방 전후의 그의 언어적 경험과 함께 살펴보았다. 이러한 김달수의‘일본어 창작론’ 이해를 통해서 해방 직후 재일조선인 사회의 ‘민족’과‘언어’가 어떤 의미로서 작용하고 있었는지에 대해 되묻고자 했다. 내면화된 언어로서의 ‘일본어’가 유일한 창작 언어였던 김달수는 해방 직후의 ‘일본어 창작론’에 있어서 ‘자기’와 ‘수단’이라는양립 불가능한 두 개의 일본어를 설정했다. 하지만 그로 인해, ‘자기’로서의 일본어는 타자화되어 갔다. 이러한 김달수의 언어관은 재일조선인 사회에서 ‘민족=언어’의 원칙을 부수는 행위로서 오해받게 되지만, 사실 김달 수의 ‘일본어’는 같은 원리로부터 생성된 것이었다. 이러한 점에 비추어 볼 때, 그의 ‘일본어 창작론’은 포스트 콜로니얼 임계점에서 발생하는 재일조선인 사회의 ‘민족’과 ‘언어’를 둘러싼 복잡한 양상의 일면을 보여주고 있다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Zainichi Korean writer Kim Dalsu is considered a “representative” of Zainichi Korean Literature. According to recent research trends, he was evaluated as such because he wrote his works in “Japanese.” However, these evaluations are considered to diminish the worth of people who write in both Japanese and Korean or in the Korean of “Zainichi Korean Literature.” It is true that Kim Dalsu is “unique” in Zainichi Korean Literature, and not just as its “representative.” This is why we need to focus on his writings in “Japanese” and consider the significance of “Japanese” for him. In that sense, we also need to consider why he strongly argues for writing in Japanese after the liberation of the Korean Peninsula, even though restoration of ethno-language is important for the Korean people in Japan. This paper aims to investigate the reason he emphasized on writing in Japanese and the significance of “Japanese” for him based on his linguistic experience. In this context, I try to analyze the significance of “Nation” and “Language” in Zainichi Korean Society after the liberation of the Korean Peninsula with its complicated political and historical circumstances. Kim Dalsu, who had only the creative language of “Japanese” as an internalized language, set two Japanese which are incompatible with self-identification and means in the “Japanese Writing” theory immediately after liberation. As a result, Japanese as self-identification became unified and became invisible. Such Japanese view of Kim Dalsu s “Japanese” was misunderstood as a destruction of the “Nation=Language” principle in Zainichi Korean society in Japan, but Kim Dalsu s “Japanese” was made based on the principle of “Nation=Language” in that sense, we can capture one aspect of complex aspects of “Nation” and “Language” at the post colonial critical point in Zainichi Korean society from his theory of “Japanese Writing.”
