어머니 자기효능감, 우울 및 양육스트레스와 유아의 문제행동 간의 관계

국문 초록

본 연구는 어머니가 가진 자기효능감이 어머니의 우울과 양육스트레스를 매개로 유아기 자녀의 문제행동을 예측하는 구조적인 관계를 검증하는 데 연구의 목적을 두고 실시되었다. 또한 영아기에 측정한 자녀의 부정적 정서성에 따른 어머니의 자기효능감, 우울 및 양육스트레스, 그리고 만 4세 유아의 문제행동의 차이를 살피고, 이들 변인 간의 관계에서 자녀의 부정적 정서성에 따른 차이를 비교하였다. 한국아동패널(PSKC)에 참여하고 있는 1,694명의 유아와 어머니의 1차∼5차 조사의 자료를 활용하여 경로분석을 실시한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영아기에 부정적 정서성이 높았던 집단은 부정적 정서성이 낮은 집단에 비해 어머니의 자기효능감이 낮고, 우울 및 양육스트레스는 높으며, 유아기 자녀의 외현적, 내면적 문제행동도 유의하게 높은 수준으로 나타났다. 둘째, 어머니의 자기효능감이 높을수록 우울과 양육스트레스는 낮았다. 또한 어머니의 우울과 양육스트레스는 자녀의 외현화 문제행동을, 우울은 내면화 문제행동을 유의하게 예측하였다. 셋째, 자녀의 부정적 정서성 집단에 따른 어머니 자기효능감, 우울 및 양육스트레스와 자녀 문제행동 간의 관계성에 유의한 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구결과는 우울 및 자녀 문제행동에 대한 개입에 앞서 영유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니를 위한 효능감 증진프로그램의 중요성을 시사하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the structural relationship between mothers’ self efficacy and preschoolers’ problem behaviors via the mediation of maternal depression and parenting stress. Moreover, the study examined the differences in the mothers’ self efficacy, depression, parenting stress and the children’s problem behaviors and any systematic differences in the paths among the variables between high and low negative emotionality groups. The path analysis was conducted using data of 1,694 children and their mothers participating Panel Study on Korean Children(PSKC). The results revealed that mothers’ higher self efficacy significantly predicted lower levels of depression and parenting stress. Mothers’ depression and parenting stress again predicted the children’s externalizing problems, and maternal depression was also significantly related to the children’s internalizing problems at age 4. The relations among mothers’ self efficacy, depression, parenting stress and the children’s problem behaviors were not different between the negative emotionality groups. The findings shed light on the importance of intervention program for efficacy of mothers with infants and toddlers before occurrence of maternal depression or child’s problem behaviors.
