영문 초록

This study aims to review the supply and demand of policies for supporting the settlement of female immigrants by marriage, who have been increasing in Korean society, and present improvement measures. For this, this study employs mixed research methods in which the qualitative and quantitative approaches complement one another. As a result of analyzing female immigrants by marriage living in Gyeonggi-do, difficulties during the settlement process included the Korean language, which was the most difficult issue. Second, the number one priority issue to be resolved is discrimination and prejudice. Third, there are insufficient policies customized by country, age and support programs. Fourth, the most significant and problematic issue of support policies and programs of each sector was learning Korean language and culture, and approaching to job technology and employment support, respectively. On the other hand, the questionnaire survey to public officials concerned with settlement service in local governments in Gyeonggi–do, shows somewhat different results. On the supply side of settlement service for female immigrants by marriage, those services such as children’s education especially Korean language teaching service, customized service by country and age, teaching service of Korean language and culture, mitigating couple’s conflicts service are prior to. This gap between the demand and supply in supporting service for female immigrants by marriage can be geared with policy improvements for female immigrants by marriage.
