개혁신학자 최홍석의 ‘인간의 구조적 본성론’

국문 초록

본고에서는 최근에 총신을 은퇴한 최홍석교수의 인간의 구조적 본성론에 대해 논구해 보았다. 그는 31년간 총신에서 조직신학을 가르치면서 많은 논저들을 남겼지만, 대외적으론 거의 알려지지 않았다. 본고에서는 그의 주저 『 인간론』 (2005)에 제시된 인간의 구조적 본성론에 대해서 논구해 보았다. 최홍석은 헤르만 바빙크의 논의 순서처럼 성경적 자료와 교리사적인 발전과 정을 살피고 나서 개혁신학적인 입장을 제시했다. 삼분설과 이분설에 대해 논구한 후에, 두 가지 입장에 비판을 한다. 이어서 그는 단일론을 주의 깊게 다루되 역시 절대적 단일론에 대해 비판을 가한다. 그리고 그가 제시하는 개혁주의적 입장이란 ‘유기적인 영-육 통일체’ 혹은 ‘조건적 영육 통일체’라는 것이다. 그는 ‘인격의 단일성과 구조적 이원성’이 동시에 견지되도록 이해되는 것이 성경적이라고 생각한다. 이러한 입장에 설 때에 그리스적인 영육 이원론을 극복하고, 기독교적 문화창달에 동기부여를 할 수도 있다고 생각했 다. 이런 점이 ‘인간의 구조적 본성’에 대해 계속되는 토론의 장에서 그가 기여한 점이라고 할 것이다.

영문 초록

In this paper, I examined on the Constitutional Nature of the Human of Professor Hongsuk Choi who retired recently from Chongshin Theological Seminary after teaching 31 years. Although he wrote and published many books and theological articles during his long professorship at Chongshin, he was not well known outside of academics. In this paper, I examined on the constitutional nature of the human presented in his main work, i.e. Theological Anthropology (2005). Firstly Professor Choi examined on the biblical data and the historical development of dogmas in line with the order of dealing of Herman Bavick. Then he presented the reformed stance on the issue. He introduced the trichotomy and dichotomy. Consequently, he criticized on both perspectives as a non-reformed one. Moreover, Choi critiqued against the absolute monism cautiously. The Reformed position which he presented to us is ‘organic unity of soul and body’ or ‘conditional unity of soul and body.’ He thinks that it is biblical to hold fast to ‘the structural unity and duality of person’ at the same time. In other words, when one stands firm on such position, it is possible to overcome the Greek dualism of body and soul and to motivate the development of Christian culture. This is one of his contribution in the ongoing discussions on the ‘Constitutional Nature of Human’ in the Reformed perspective.
