코스닥시장 상장기업의 연구개발 활동이 특허취득과 경영성과에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국산업기술진흥원(2010)이 발표한 2009년 기준 R&D Scoreboard 1,000대 기업 중코스닥시장 벤처기업 292사를 연구대상으로 정하고 본 연구의 목적을 충족할 수 있는 162개 벤처 기업을 추출하여 코스닥시장 상장기업 R&D 활동이 특허취득과 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 회귀 분석 하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 코스닥시장 상장기업 중 R&D 활동을 활발히 추진하는 첨단연구개발기업이 그렇지 않은 비첨단연구개발기업보다 특허를 더 많이 취득하고 있음을 발견하였다. 이는 R&D와 기술혁신이 상호 순환적 인과관계 구조를 지니고 있어 코스닥시장 상장기업 중 고급기술을 많이 보유한 첨단 연구개발기업이 고급기술을 많이 보유하지 않은 비첨단연구개발기업보다 특허취득 성공률이 높음을 보여준다고 판단된다. 둘째, 코스닥시장 상장기업 중 R&D 활동을 활발히 추진하는 첨단연구개발기업이 그렇지 않은 비첨단연구개발기업보다 수익성, 성장성, 생산성 등 경영성과를 더 높이 실현하고 있음을 발견하 였다. 이는 R&D에 집중하는 첨단연구개발기업이 비첨단연구개발기업보다 시장을 확보할 가능성이 더 높아 긍정적 경영성과 실현이 있음을 보여준다고 판단된다.

영문 초록

This study uses 292 out of top 1,000 venture companies on Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology’s(2010) R&D scoreboard published in 2009. It further chooses 162 venture companies that correspond with the purpose of this study to perform regression study on the effect R&D activity that has on patent acquisition and management achievement. The result of the study is as follows. First, the study found that among publicly traded companies on KOSDAQ, technologically advanced research and development companies that are more involved in R&D activity are more likely to acquire patents than technologically non-advanced research and development companies that are not. This indicates that R&D and technological innovation have the structure of mutually circulative causal relation that makes the probability of acquiring patents for research and development companies that have high-level technology higher than that for research and development companies that have low-level technology. Second, among publicly traded companies in KOSDAQ, technologically advanced research and development companies show better management achievement indicators such as profitability, productivity, etc. than technologically non-advanced research and development companies. This shows higher probability for technologically advanced companies that concentrate on R&D to realize positive management achievement because they are more likely to secure higher market share than technologically non-advanced companies.
