국문 초록

본 연구는 코스닥 상장 기업을 대상으로 총연구개발비(TRD), 무형자산(IA) 및 특허등록갯수(PAT) 가 기업가치에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대해 분석하였다. 기업가치인 주가(V)와의 관련성을 검증 함으로써 지속적인 연구개발투자 등으로 취득한 무형자산이 기업 경쟁력 강화의 중요한 원천임을 분석하고 연구개발활동 및 특허가 기업가치 증대에 영향을 미치는지 실증적 증거를 제시하고자 한다. 연구 대상 기업은 2003년부터 2012년까지 10개년 동안 5,329개 표본을 대상으로 다중회귀분석모 형을 사용하여 분석하였다. 이전연구에서 다루지 않았던 코스닥 상장 혁신형 중소기업을 벤처기업, 이노비즈기업, 벤처⋅이노비즈 중복 인증기업 및 기업부설연구소 인증기업으로 분류하여 총연구개 발비(TRD), 무형자산(IA), 특허등록갯수(PAT)가 기업가치인 주가(V)에 영향을 미치는지 검증하였 다. 본 연구의 회귀분석결과는 다음과 같이 요약될 수 있다. 첫째, 코스닥기업의 총연구개발비(TRD)가 기업가치인 주가(V)에 미치는 영향을 회귀분석한 결과 유의적인 양(+)의 값을 보여 총연구개발비(TRD)가 기업가치에 영향을 미치고 있음을 보여주었다. 이러한 결과는 표본을 벤처기업, 이노비즈기업, 벤처⋅이노비즈 중복 인증기업, 기업부설연구소 인증기업으로 분류한 후의 분석에서도 모든 혁신형 중소기업의 총연구개발비(TRD)는 기업가치에 유의한 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 코스닥 상장 기업의 무형자산(IA)이 기업가치인 주가(V)에 미치는 영향을 회귀분석한 결과 모두 유의적인 양(+)의 값을 보여 무형자산(IA)이 기업가치에 영향을 미치고 있음을 보여주었다. 셋째, 코스닥 상장 기업의 특허등록갯수(PAT)가 기업가치인 주가(V)에 미치는 영향을 회귀분석한 결과 유의한 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 벤처⋅이노비즈 중복 인증기업의 경우 특허취득갯수(PAT)가 기업가치에 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 무형자산의 다양한 변수들을 이용하여 미래를 예측하는 데 있어 기업의 이해관계자나 투자자에게 유용한 정보를 제공하여 의사결정을 하는데에 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 하지만 10년이라는 장기간의 자료를 분석함에 따라 생존자 편의의 위험이 내포되어 있으며 기업의 경영성과를 결정짓는 다양한 핵심적 요인이 있음에도 불구하고 특허등록갯수(PAT)만을 가지고 기업 가치와의 관련성을 규명한 것에는 한계점이 있다.

영문 초록

This study analyzes which focus on KOSDAQ listed companies to see how three factors - the total research and development cost(TRD), the intangible assets(IA) and the number of registered patents(PAT) - affect the firm value(V). By examining the correlation between the firm value, which can be represented as Stock Value(V), and the three factors above, this study shows that IA acquired through sustained research and development(R&D) investment is a key source of enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs, while presenting empirical evidences how R&D activities and patents impact on the usefulness of accounting information. In this study, 5,329 samples, collected for 10 years from 2003 to 2012 are analyzed through applying a multiple regression analysis model. A distinctive point of this study from the previous studies is that this study classifies KOSDAQ‐listed innovative companies into the four sub-groups : the certified Venture enterprises(VE), the certified Innobiz enterprises(IE), the enterprises dual-certified(VE and IE), and the certified corporate-affiliated -institute enterprises. Also, this study verifies whether the TRD, IA, and PAT affected the firm value. Following are the summaries of the multiple regression analysis in this study : First, the results of multiple regression analysis show the TRD of KOSDAQ‐listed companies and the firm value(V) are correlated in a significantly positive value(+), confirming that TRD affects the firm value(V). These results are also shown from the analysis after the classification of samples into the four sub-groups. This implies that TRD affects positively business performance as it is an expense for the future of the firm, Second, this study shows that the IA of KOSDAQ‐listed companies is related with their firm value(V) in a significantly positive value(+), confirming that IA affected the firm value(V). Third, the effects of the PAT of KOSDAQ‐listed companies upon their V are significantly positive(+) to most KOSDAQ‐listed companies. However, in case of dual certified enterprises(VE and IE), the PAT didn’t significantly impact upon the firm value(V). This study is expected to provide corporate stakeholders including investors with useful information for their decision making process as it forecasts the futures of their companies by using various variables of intangible assets.
