영문 초록

ThÎs study analyses the effect of finn characters on the choice of main bank in pusan based on the regonal financial market theory and the relationship banking. These theories say that -ovincial is superior to a national in lending to ional fllTIlS that are small and opaque. TotaI 7,m1 rlonal firms in Pusan(of which 68 are public and KOSDAQ or the third market listed corporations, of which 51 are finns whose assets are above 7 bi1lion won, and of which 6,610 are sm1 and ium frrms whose assets are ow 7 bi1lion won) are surveyed. The rests are as fol1ows: le she of rl멍ional finns that bαrow from national s decreases as their scale measured by the number of workers becomes smaller and their opaqueness inσeases. Such a ldency becomes clear;er when we exclude KI∞kmin B1k and Small dMium Bk from national . But Pusan Bank, the only provincial in pu11， have relatively closer leng relationships with nium sized finns and with firms whose assets are above 7 bi1lion won which are thought to be more lucid than those whose assets below 7 bi1lion wol1. lese ress do not sut the preslsitions of this study. These results are closely related with the facts that Kookmin Bank and SmaIl and M어ium B1k have 1xun to devote themselves in financing ron sm and nium firms rlier than Pusan B1k. π1Îs study is the first that have shown the firm-bank relationships in the rional financial rket in Korea
