The analytical φta used were: 24 un!ts of . admínistrative districts, 5 planning regions, 3 divided regio.ns bý populatio.n size, and 2 divided regio.ns by degrees o.f iñdustri agglo.meratio.n between the years 15-1 . The statistics ed we: deprivatio.n index, Krt,Iskal-Walis test. and Wilco.xon rank. sum test, and. time~series cross- sectio.na regressio.n. Several characteristics o.f the ana\ysis and evaluatio.n o.f regio.nal inno.vatio.n capacity were revealed fro.m the rearch. First, the anaysis o.f results o.f the 24 administrative districts revealed that fo.ur cities were much superio.r to. the o.ther regio.ns. The deprivatio.n index fo.r these fo.ur cities are as fo.llo.ws: Dagu (O.867) ， Kyo.ngsan (o.4 15) ， Kumi (0.41026), and Po.hang <0.41). Second, after analysis o the five _Qlanning regio.ns, it wasfo.und that fo.ur planning regio.ns, the Daegll metropolitan city (0.68730), the East regio.n (0.47075), the So.uth regio.n 0.465(1), and the West (0.38533) Kyo.ngbuk region - had sirnilar indices. But the study showed that the_ No.rth KYo.ngbuk regio.n is verγ weak (0.15217) in co.mpariso.n. Third, three regio.ns were derived based o.n population. They are a metro.politan area, a small to. medium-:siz~:Lcity and a rura\ area. The tuclY indicated the f o.llQwing indices: metropolitan ea (0,86677), .sma\l-m어ium sized city (0.21051), rural area (0.05649). Fotirth, the two. regio.ns divided by industrial agglo.meration indicated these very different results: indust끼a\ized regio.n (0.41980 and non ind!ls6ia\ized regio.n (0.07513). Fifth, four variables were anaJysed in terms o.f time-s하ies cross-sectiona\ regression. The three indendent variables positively influenc어 perfo.rrnance inno.vation. le breakdo.wn o.f the sitive impact of each ind학lCndent variable is as follo.ws: source (2.28, prob>O.OO), environment(4， prob>O.OO), and activity (0.00, prob>O.09) innovation. Furthermoreperfo rmance innovation was rrio.re influenced by regio.naJ chaiacteristics (0.44) than by time (O,00)).
